Yep. Mayor Glover is the first and only democrat I've ever voted for. I voted for Jerry Jones the first time but voted Mayor Glover the second time. Bryan Wooley (Glover's Republican opponent during his re-election campaign) was sleezy. Glover destroyed him with 2/3 of the vote.

    Article in The Times: http://www.shreveporttimes.com/artic...ch-merger-year

Now the interim LSU System President says:
"if the financial picture doesn't improve soon, the system will consider declaring financial exigency at some campuses, which could lead to closing them."

But yet the LSU System is committed to adding new programs and growing LSUS. What a joke. After the bill dies, they reveal that they may have to shutter LSUS because they don't have the money to keep its doors open.

I think the merger will pass next legislative session.

It is waaaaaaaaaaay past time for Louisiana universities (and systems) to cut athletics to the bone. How STUPID is it to layoff faculty, but keep the tennis, golf, soccer, track, softball, baseball.....etc coaches, staff and budgets? At every Louisiana university....every one...at least half of the projected shortfall can be covered by gutting athletics and turning that money over to academics. In some cases, the make-up approaches 2/3rds.

What is the mission of a university? Anyone?

I purposely did not include the so-called "cost" of 'ships...

    Student Athlete Scholarship Expenses
    $6,318,154 - UTEP
    $6,057,472 - UAB
    $5,861,149 - FIU
    $5,823,307 - East Carolina
    $5,503,325 - Marshall
    $4,398,365 - Southern Miss
    $3,684,448 - UTSA (no football)
    $3,616,304 - LA Tech
    $3,310,358 - North Texas
    $2,906,115 - Charlotte (no football)

...in my post because that is a mere accounting trick and is not real cost. The ONLY way it would be an actual cost would be if a "shipped" student-athlete bumped a paying student (a paying customer) out of an enrollment slot. But, that doesn't happen. Thankfully. Else Louisiana's universities would be in an even deeper hole.

The actual athletic budgets are REAL, however.

He claimed he had saved thousands of lives (because he owned a medical equipment company).

Remember to draw the distinction: LSU did not kill this, Fauxgers did.

I was so angry at this situation that it made me physically ill. We need to vent our anger, especially if it is to someone who can help. Then we need to move on. I wonder how many of those who were for us in this move, even LSU graduates will continue to be supportive of us in our future. My guess is more than a few.

This argument very thought out-makes sense-but it all made sense initially. Bottom line if LSU supporters in legislature don't want it-it will NEVER happen. They will not stand to have any plum picked from their tree in their backyard. Especially if it would benefit the growth of TECH.

The plum will fall off and wither away if it isn't picked soon.

So, LSUS is associated to LSU-BR?
