The News-Star: Tech to get $612,850 in grants for job creation
I can say YES for 162k all day long. Can even call me at night if needed.
Tech received support for the project from a number of community and business leaders throughout the region including the mayors of Ruston, West Monroe, Arcadia, Bastrop, Farmerville, Delhi, Springhill and Bernice. Support also came from CenturyLink, ConAgra Foods, Murphy USA, Community Trust Bank, Louisiana Economic Development, North Louisiana Economic Partnership, and Northeast Louisiana Economic Alliance.So what is going over there at LSUS? Are they fearing a "hostile takeover" or Tech "land grab"?
Sen. Mary Landrieu, Sen. David Vitter, Rep. Rodney Alexander, Sen. John Boozman, Sen. Mark Pryor, and Rep. Mike Ross also backed the proposal.
Is this in addition to the $162k? Or is that included?
Not sure about LSUS, but ULM just announced a bunch of job and program cuts.

I don't know.
Here's a follow-up by The News-Star editorial staff: Tech effort will mean jobs
I cracked up at how the very first sentences were to justify why they are celebrating Tech;
At the same time it's the sad state of affairs in N. Louisiana, each little fiefdom tearing down the others instead of everyone working together to build up, ALA Tech-LSUS Merger opposition...Our economic development efforts have recognized the natural synergies that exist along the Interstate 20 corridor.That's one reason our area joined to form the North Louisiana Economic Development Partnership.
And that's why we celebrate a big win by Louisiana Tech University
The Shreveport Times: Another view: Tech effort will mean jobs
No Mayor Mayo? (That's a tongue-twister.)
