Without major changes in how we approach game prep, we will lose to SJSU. We have a 1 in 3 chance of winning doing what we have been doing.
The secret is out. Hand check and bump our WRs down the field on the deep plays, keep everything in front of you and make Tech beat you with our running game. If you don't get called for pass interference you will stand a good chance of beating us.
No. The offense is fine. CC just had a rough night.
The secret to beating us, which really is no secret at all is this: Make sure the bus shows up on time at the team hotel to pick up the offense and get them to the stadium in time for the game. That right there is the blueprint for scoring on us.
We have the number one scoring offense in the entire country. We rolled up over 630 yards on Utah States "awesome" defense last night. The reason we lost is due to 3 UNFORCED turnovers that are completely out of character for our team. Those ints Colby threw were inexplicable, NOT due to any special scheme USU devised.
NO ONE has figured out our offense yet. We have only for brief periods suffered from self inflicted wounds.
only thing I can think of to contribute to the thread is.............TRUE
As expected, we are an underdog again. 4 points this week
They went toe-to-toe with the top ranked team in the nation and blew a decent Ga Tech out of the water. I wouldn't say they're inept. There isn't much separation b/t the top teams in our conference and the top teams in the country. Think about it. We played A&M closer than Bama did. This game will be a huge challenge.
I will say it like I have said it all year. We are West Virginia with a weak schedule and running game, and West Virginia can go toe to toe with anybody, but they also lose when their offense gets stymied or they dont get the ball last against anybody. Our defense is just that bad. We can lose to the 100th ranked team and we can hang with top 10 teams because both are going to score points, but our offense can score on most teams when it gets rolling.
You look at points scored and say that no one has figured out our offense. You are wrong. While still very good, its effectiveness will continue to decline. The offense scored 34 against USt. Most of that was in the 4th quarter when USt. arguably was in a more preventive mode. The two interceptions resulted from a defensive understanding of what our offense couldn't, or wasn't, going to do, which allowed them to confidently double certain receivers. And when the game was literally on the line, running a dive play from the shotgun proved to be an Achilles heel. This offense doesn't need to br scrapped, but it needs more flexibility and ingenuity. In this respect SD and TF have shown no indication that they are "growing into the job."
We could beat anyone in country this year. Anyone!
