You should...
I don't know why the hard-on for the Cajuns but trust me they're not much better than ULM; they've been planning to put together a master plan for the past 4 years, had to take 1MM out of their athletic budget to offset academic cuts, and being in a conference with them only brings us down... I don't mind an occasional 1/1 to put them in their place and shut em up with a beat down.
Let me put it this way:
ULM is the lil brother going "Me Too Me too!" and the only way to get him to stop is just ignore him
ULL is that obnoxious younger cousin that at family gatherings lies about all the cool things he has at home and how he's better at everything...then you beat him silly during the family flag football game and he shuts up. He's OK to see occasionally but you're really glad he lives 2 states away...
All of these! HELL NO to ULL and ARKY ST! I really can't believe any of you want any combination of ASU/ULL/ULM.
There is a simple concept called competition. It would be stupid to pull up any of our closest competitors to our level. Pulling any of those losers up would do us more harm than good.
Throwing NMSU a lifeline wouldn't do us any harm. NM State brings a basketball program capable of making noise ($$$$$$) in the NCAA every year. They also bring AggieVision, which means any time we play them, it will be televised. AggieVision now has a deal with CSN Houston to show all their broadcasts. NM State is also a land-grant national university with a statewide market. ULL and ULM are hyphenated schools. ASU and ULM are regional schools.

NMSU, Western Kentucky, and Texas State waaaaayyyyyy before Arkansas State and ULL/M. Hell, we should even lobby for Troy and South Alabama before the others. To be clear, the goal is to get as many other State schools back into the Southland as possible as fast as possible.
Why would anyone want to split PRECIOUS recruits and resources with another school in a state that has a population smaller than DFW?
