No other Big11 teams can sneak in past Oklahoma right?

$EC--Alabama and either Florida/Georgia (LSU, A&M, South Carolina taking up space)
Big 12--Kansas State and Oklahoma
Pac 12--Stanford and Oregon (Oregon State taking up space)
ACC--Florida State (Clemson taking up space)
Notre Dame
Wisconsin (champion not in Top 16)
Louisville (champion not in Top 16)
possibly in Top 16--Northern Illinois or less likely Boise State

If NIU or Boise State gets in, I believe Oregon will get screwed...hard to see Georgia falling from #3 to #5 in the rankings to give Oregon a #4 and an auto-bid. And I think the Sugar will take Oklahoma to replace Alabama since one of Florida/Georgia will get an auto-bid.

I've peaked behind the curtain in the past and you would not BELIEVE how much wheeling and dealing is taking place right now regardless of how "locked-in" many of these bowls are supposed to be.

I don't know how to assess close losses, and I take little comfort in them. What I DO know is that we have had a number of teams that have finished better than third in their conference.

LFR, that's a really dumb measuring stick considering the two teams ahead of us BOTH have 10-2 records and are BOTH nationally ranked.

Well, I'd put the 1971-1974 teams against any teams we have had, or any teams alot of schools have had. The 1984 team was very good as well. I also remember Slaughter, Robertson, and Bradshaw QBing some good Tech teams.

In the highest classification, if memory serves, I think we had equal or better teams in 1975, 1977, 1990, 1991, 1997, 1999, 2008, 2011. I may be off on some of the years, but I'm in the neighborhood. Memory not what it used to be. But, upon reflection, I'll go back to my original statement about top 10 all time Tech teams, and this years team not being among them, or at best, at the bottom of the list.

Does Wisconsin's annihilation of Nebraska get NIU into BCS? That would screw this all up right? Or does it not matter anymore?

'73 team only lost first game. We lost because refs sucked... and Pope missed a field goal as time expired.

I have the greatest respect in the world for LA Tech's early 1970's teams. HOWEVER, you're comparing apples and oranges. Those 70's Tech teams had 5'10" LB's, and routinely feasted on the likes of McNeese, UT-Chatt, NSU, Lamar, Northern Ariz, Abilene Christian, SE LA, TX Arlington and of course, USL & NLU. Not to take anything away from them.....they BEAT 'EM all. But it was truly a different game from what we see in JAS these days.
