"Look kids, Big Bend, Parliament."

Fellow BBB'ers,
I am not a rich almunus, and by all means not the smartest but I do consider myself to be an excellent judge of character. Les Guice is one hell of a hire for the growth of the university, for committment to academia & athletics & for progress in general. Whether that is positioning Tech for current & future excellence in academics, really doing what it takes to position us to be the genuine flagship of N. LA, increasing enrollment & growing the athletic programs. This is IMHO the man for the job & I will support him as much as possible. I would also encourage other's to do the same. This man bleeds red & blue & also gets the "athletics is the window through which your university is perceived" thing. For the first time in about 18 years...I really have hope for the major advancement of the U and the atheltics. I think with him, we finally get the accountabilityfor their actions that has been closed to a select few (Rustonites & very very large donors over the years). He will get Q$E going or will come to us & publically tell us why he can't. That is a much better scenario that what we have been through for the past 18 years.
Maybe so. But Dr. Guice needs to brush up on his public speaking skills. During the Skip Holtz presser last week, Dr. Guice sounded very nervous. His voice was cracking, and he didn't look confident or comfortable. I hope that changes. I was very disappointed in his performance.
On the other hand, I thought Dr Reneau sounded great. DR sounded confident, humorous and much bolder. After listening to Dr Guice, listening to Dr Reneau was actually refreshing.
HD
I agree with your point but also understand that DR has a little (18? 19?) more years of experience tha LG. All I am, or anybody that knows him, is asking is to give the man a chance & if possible "buy in" (increase donations, season tix & giving in general). This is the right man for this job at this time. But he needs committment in order to carry out the vision. Let's give him that opportunity.

Update?
I have no doubt that Dr. Guice will do a fine job when he takes control.

Awaiting groundbreaking.

Time will cure the twitch, I would think at this point in his career he has had plenty of experience at public speaking, just not as the future Prez of La Tech. The nervous twitch is the least of my worries, the fact of the matter is, he should be nervous and I am glad that he is.
