If a coach gets his team to a bowl game, he should be required to finish out the season. I think it's stupid how these coaches get their team to the bowl game, and then leave. College football is starting to look like the NFL. All about the money! No real dedication to the team, players, or fans!
Yes, Bain, it is chicken-manure city when coaches leave teams for big bucks after am impressive season and a bowl bid.
If Tech's coach had been paying attention, Tech would have been in a bowl. Just ridiculous.
Hope Tech schedules Berkley again soon!

Thanks, Grassy, you know some Louisiana and Florida football!
hehehe...i just know where to look. http://cfbdatawarehouse.com/
i was at the Tech-NIU game in the I Bowl 2008, proudly sporting blue. last FSU-Tech game was 99. i was there too, proudly sporting my garnet ;-)
So Northern Illinois lost. Anyone who watch Tech games this year knows that Tech would have won that game.
And then you got a staff that is heavily distracted and in some cases, not giving a flip about the game. Forcing them to stay will not keep them planning for the new school, recruiting for the new school, etc. Plus it is kind of awkward having the new HC come in and the old HC is still sitting in his office for another two-three weeks. Nah, I think it is better to let them go as soon as they decide to leave. If the coach chooses to stay, fine. But I do not think forcing them will accomplish anything, except for a bowl loss.
The only way to stop this as I see it is to have a two-three week "coaches signing period" after the bowls are over, but before signing day, as the time to hire new HC. All contacts and hiring must be done during this period. Sure, there can still be abuses, but it might help some.
Why move this to the Pit? It wasn't a flame war. There were actually some decent conversation elements going despite the ULL posters.
For the most part, it's the colleges that don't want the coaches in the bowl games after they agree to leave.
Here's the change they should make. If you leave before your contract is up, you have to sit a year--just like the players. That'd change things--of course, they couldn't do that because it'd be illegal, which says something about the player rules.
