    THAT is funny.
This set was taken (like all my attendance photos) are taken at the end of the 1st quarter.

    That's the 19,203.

    Early 2nd quarter

All of those empty seats are season ticket holders for the Independence Bowl. They did not show up and could not even give their tickets away.

Due to the side shot angle, the empty chairs are not seen. Also, it's not a hi-res photo. There is some smearing on that image located at the middle bottom section.

I was there and estimated about....20-25K (tops). I posted on here right after the game....it was cold, BTW...a number, but can't remember exactly what it was. If the turnstile count of 19,203 is official, I can't argue against it, since I est. in the low-mid-20's. I can say there were more ULM fans than Ohio fans! that much is true.

I was at the game till just into the 3rd quarter. . It was in the low 40's and with the wind chill it felt like 33 (if I remember my weather app correctly) plus it started raining. Don't kid yourselves, if Tech was in the game, attendance wouldn't have been worlds better. It was a freaking miserable day to sit outside.

The Indy Bowl is always freezing cold. Every year.

I boycotted the Ohio-Juco bowl, but all the weather reports said that all the rain had moved through the area before 10:00 AM.

CUSA going to lose a couple conference tie-ins-- what if CUSA commits to 2nd or third team ? would we want it to die? I started ripping the I-bowl the friday evening before the selection,I had been told I-bowl was "pissed" at Tech. I have some great memories of I-bowl and Tech. I am still irritated but the leadership of the bowl can be tuned up -- the Bowl itself would be great with new leadership -- promise people the worst team from a conferebce (9th in SEC) and whatever from whatever has never made sense to me. Some really good people have put in 35 yrs of free effort to keep it alive, just need a new vision

Keep telling yourself that, but if TECH was there the place would have at least resembled a crowd. The attendance was pitiful and no one cared about the game if they didn't go to ulm- and most of them didn't either.

Re: Independence Bowl sets sights on stability

I can tell you that the SEC win't offer the I Bowl a better selection. Even if Advocare makes a huge push to get the money competitive, they are competing against NFL stadiums. The only 3 non NFL stadiums in the SEC group are CapitalOne, BBVA, and I Bowl. Capital One just found out their limitations too. Their stadium is holding them back from joining the next level even though they are the first pick non BCS bowl for the SEC.

And even though the SEC is losing Dallas and Atlanta to the "BCS" or whatever you call it, they will probably pick up another NFL stadium in Houston.

Hopefully the I Bowl is willing to give up on the SEC dream and fight to gain a good pick from another conference.
