Let em die! If they can't come up with the obvious answer of a tie-in to CUSA, they deserve to get what is coming..........
The game won't die, but it will struggle and not grow. The play they tried to pull last year hurt them as much as it hurt us. They thought they had a strong hand, they just didn't know how big an idiot they were dealing with in BVDV. I think in 5 to 7 years there will be some reconciliation between us and them. Right now I'm more interested in making them suffer.
Shreveport-Bossier is beyond the point of whatever the commanding officer of Barksdale thinks, goes.
The casinos and their adjoining hotels carry the weight now. Whatever the bosses in Las Vegas say, so it goes. Too bad the local yokels were not smart enough to go and kiss the proper rings of the Vegas bosses first . . . . then talk to the legislators.
When one grows up in Hot Springs, you get a better understanding of how you get things done in a hospitality community.
The above interchange in Baton Rouge full illustrates how unprepared Shreveport-Bossier was for proposing a hospitality tax.

I've spent some time in Hot Springs over the years. From a tourism and hospitality standpoint, they are light years ahead of Shreveport-Bossier City.
The I-Bowl and Shreveport-Bossier were very poorly prepared for the tax debate before the legislature. You would think they would have gotten resolutions of support from the mayors and councils of Shreveport, Bossier City, Caddo Parish, and Bossier Parish well in advance of the meeting. The closest anyone had to that was one of the city's workers saying they got a text from one of the mayors indicating support of the bill with amendments.
It is amazing just how unprepared they were. They not only didn't have all their ducks lined up, they didn't have any ducks lined up. This tells me that if they weren't prepared in asking for the money, they wouldn't be able to properly manage the money if it somehow got through the legislature.
It gives us all an insight into just how badly this organization is managed on a day-to-day basis.
I wrote her off last year when the Tech-LSUS bill was killed, she was on the floor doing her normal idiotic questioning;
