You missed the most important part of my post. His wife is the one we should be praising, not him. He was almost 30 years old. A man should know right from wrong at that age.

I get your message, Don. But isn't God's message that EVERYONE sins and falls short? Or is there an age at which that no longer applies? As I understand it, knowing right from wrong does not make one immune to sinning.

Yet Terry still kept in touch and never disregarded his university. I too am proud of Mr. Phil and any other person that is able to eliminate the wasteful lives they live by whatever means it takes them to do so, but why should we give them a pass anymore than those who never have had to do so or even those who have also done as he has but just haven't become famous for wading in water and being modern versions of Grizzly Adams. It wasn't two years ago that Phil Robertson was barely an afterthought on this board even getting some disdainful remarks for his son having attended NLU, but now all of a sudden he's the next Tech great so much so that people seem to forget his less than stellar career at Tech. I'm not bashing the guy. I'm not saying he has loyalties to any other school. I am saying that he was able to get a degree to teach because Tech gave him that opportunity, and he has done nothing, as far as I know, to show his appreciation for that, and because of that, he deserves no more reverence than those we criticize for having nothing to do with Tech. I also question just how devout he is. Now those who know me know that I'm not one to cast stones, and I'm certainly not doing so now because I can't claim to live the perfect Christian life, but from what I understand, there was one episode that created a serious uproar with many of his Christian followers because of a sexual comment he made. Then to find out that he allows them to edit out his mentioning of Christ in prayers. Now before anyone says he has no control over that because it's the producer's or the network's decisions, he has every bit of control. It's called refusing to do the show if your conviction is strong enough.

Thanks for posting that. That's the same way I feel, but, your post is a little more eloquent than mine. I think there are people on here that think all we have to do is invite Robertson to a game and he will write a big check. It's been 45 years since he left Tech and he's never been back and he's only lived 30 miles down the interstate. There are others that are more famous than him like Bradshaw and Kix Brooks that found their way back.

I'm thankful that Phil not only found, but also welcomed into his heart, our Savior. I'm also thankful that there is no age limit on that Grace that He gives to us. He certainly knows I need it every day and will continue to need it every day long after I turn 47 on July 11th (hint, hint). I don't begrudge Phil or judge Phil of his sinful pursuits. It certainly doesn't sound like he was much different than I was at his age. As I stated, I only take exception with the fact that some want to act as though he's a super alum when he isn't. I'm glad that maddawg provided the information of what their family did during Dooley's first year. I'm thankful to them for doing it. It's probably more than I have ever done or will be able to do. It definitely wasn't my intention for this to turn into a character bashing. For my role in that, I apologize. Now. Can we just let this thread die? Oops.

I think she deserves a lot of praise for that. I am not praising Phil, I just don't think there is any need in bashing him for behavior from 40 years ago when he has obviously put that behind him and become a totally different person.

You are 100% correct. Phil has a great testimony that would help many young men to be more successful at younger ages instead of making decisions as he and I both did that would put them years behind because of the mistakes and traps you fall into. I hope some take his advice to heart.

Good point...there are plenty of good, faithful men and women that I know personally who for whatever Satanic reason support L$U despite never being connected with them in any conceivable way besides being located in the same general thumbprint on the globe.
