Paradoxical Quote of the Day From Ben Stein:

"Fathom the hypocrisy of a government that requires every citizen to prove they are insured... But not everyone must prove they are a citizen."

Now add this, "Many of those who refuse, or are unable, to prove they are citizens will receive free insurance paid for by those who are forced to buy insurance because they are citizens."

Look who's behind 'Voter ID is racist' campaign

Data called into question, contradicted by group's own report

TAMPA, Fla. – A radical group funded by billionaire George Soros that has a history of biased research is primarily behind a national campaign to paint voter ID laws as racist.
The voter ID data collected by the group, the Brennan Center for Justice, has been called into question by experts and has been contradicted by other credible studies. Yet the center’s information is cited widely by news media and even members of the Obama administration.

Besides receiving a reported $7.4 million from Soros’ Open Society Institute since 2000, the Brennan Center was also the recipient of grants from the Joyce Foundation from 2000 to 2003. President Obama served on the Joyce board from 1994 through 2002.
Get Aaron Klein’s “Fool Me Twice: Obama’s Shocking Plans for the Next Four Years Exposed,” autographed, at WND’s Superstore!

The Brennan Center is located at New York University School of Law. Its primary focus is so-called voting rights and creating a “living constitution” as well as pushing for a “living wage.”
In November 2006, the Brennan Center issued “Citizens Without Proof,” an extensive report that claimed voter ID policies will disfranchise millions of minority, elderly and low-income voters because those voting blocs are less likely to possess documentation than the general population.

The report is routinely cited by news media and activists seeking to prove voter ID is racist. Just yesterday, MSNBC featured two segments citing the Brennan Center information as evidence the GOP is attempting to block minorities from voting by pushing ID laws.
Articles this week by the Huffington Post, Bloomberg News and the Baltimore Sun also cited the Brennan research.
The National Center for Public Policy Research notes that in its report on voter ID measures, the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, or NAACP, “relied heavily” on Brennan Center’s work.

Also last month, Politifact used the Brennan Center’s 2006 report to support Attorney General Eric Holder’s claim that 25 percent of African-Americans lack government-issued photo ID.
GroupSnoop.org, a website run by the National Center for Public Policy Research, recently posted a new profile of the Brennan Center that documents how its voter ID information is highly questionable and may be based on biased data.

WHITE HOUSE BLAMES BIG SIS FOR ALIEN RELEASE

White House was not involved in ICE's decision to release detainees, Carney says

By JENNIFER EPSTEIN | 2/27/13 1:10 PM EST

The White House and the Department of Homeland Security were unaware of Immigration Customs and Enforcement's decision to release detainees until the agency announced it, administration officials said Wednesday.
"This was a decision made by career officials at ICE without any input from the White House, as a result of fiscal uncertainty over the continuing resolution, as well as possible sequestration," White House press secretary Jay Carney said Wednesday.
Personnel at Department of Homeland Security headquarters in Washington were also unaware of the decision until the announcement was made, a department official told POLITICO.
(WATCH: Janet Napolitano: Sequestration would threaten nation's security)
ICE announced Tuesday that it has released several hundred undocumented immigrants in recent weeks as funding cuts loom. The detainees will instead be monitored in less expensive ways, the agency said.
Carney described those released as "low-risk, non-criminal detainees," but several Republican members of Congress have spoken out against the releases.
(Also on POLITICO: Blogs decry illegal immigrant release)
“It’s very hard for me to believe that they can’t find cuts elsewhere in their agency,” House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) told CBS News on Tuesday. “I frankly think this is outrageous…I can’t believe that they can’t find the kind of savings they need out of that department short of letting criminals go free.”

NBC News special report: Immigration reformers aim to put 11 million undocumented workers on the path to citizenship. It’s a simple idea that obscures a thorny truth:
There is no single path to becoming an American citizen, but hundreds.

    Bombing Shows Immigration Flaws

By: Rep. Louie Gohmert (TX-01), USA Today

The terrorist bombing in Boston offers a glimpse of our immigration system's serious failure. While failing to address massive risks to our security, proposed immigration changes actually exacerbate them.

Inadequately secured borders and defectively monitored visas currently overwhelm our immigration system. Granting immediate legal status to the alleged 11 million illegally here would cripple our dysfunctional system.

Tamerlan and Dzhokhar Tsarnaev were granted asylum through defective immigration and visa systems. Indeed, asylum regulations made the brothers and their mother, Zubeidat, eligible for legal permanent residence within one year.

A proper system would not have granted the Tsarnaevs asylum. It would have revoked asylum after they traveled to the region they supposedly fled. Some travel apparently occurred even while Tamerlan and his mother were watch-listed as terrorists. Also, shouldn't proper systems "ping" when Zubeidat fled the U.S. with a pending warrant for her arrest?

Reports say Tamerlan lived comfortably while unemployed and improperly received welfare. Our system failed to find danger, even after Russia force-fed red flags to our authorities and after he traveled to the epicenter of Russia's violent jihad movement.

In a broken system that failed to properly monitor the 9/11 terrorists, the solution from the Senate's "Gang of Eight" is to grant 11 million people legalized status. And if we don't, the president will not secure our border.

President Obama, however, has the resources to secure the border now. Because 34.9% of federal prosecutions are for those who criminally re-enter the U.S. after being deported, our justice system would have a third of the workload along with massive savings if he secured the border without any change to the law.

But the massive cuts in the president's 2014 budget show that his heart is not in border security. By adding millions more aliens to the mix, the problems will figuratively and literally explode.

It's imperative that we secure the border against all but legal immigrants, dramatically reform the immigration process and improve our vetting capability now. Then, we can swiftly agree on what to do about those illegally here. Otherwise, we put the cart before the horse as it rolls over the infamous cliff.

Rep. Louie Gohmert, R-Texas, is vice chair of the Judiciary Subcommittee on Crime, Terrorism and Homeland Security. Before Congress, he served as a district judge in Smith County, Texas, and as chief justice of Texas' 12th Court of Appeals.
