Strategically, this was a brilliant move. If I or you were the new AD at ULM, we'd be saying the very same thing if we were smart. You're new, fresh, and have a chance to seize the local P.R. "high" ground by playing to THE one thing that makes a ULM alumnus shed his LSU shirt...talk about LaTech. Finally, you publicly paint your local competition as the "bad" guys...mean-ol-Tech...so arrogant they won't play us. I would say he was brilliantly schooled by Eric Buskirk (his former compadre at UC-Riverside) before getting on the plane and coming to Monroe. Buskirk knows what buttons to push.

It was on the news here in Monroe as well. Instead of celebrating a new day for their athletic department, they have to talk about us. Really sad for them.

That is why I don't mind them trying to call us out and saying we are arrogant, etc... It will ALWAYS be about us, not them. Let them continue. It just puts our name out there more and shows that we are far above them. Even insults are not always a bad thing. Makes them look petty. Until they move past thinking about us, they will stay in their place.

Media exposure, excitement, buzz, ticket sales, $$$$$-something we are sorely in need of. People who don't normally attend Tech games show up when we play ulm for some reason. Lamar, UCA, Nichols St.and all the other OOC teams (minus usm) combined have brought maybe 2,000 tickets over the last 10 years that is terrible.

With CUSA membership pretty much locked down at this point, I'm a "No" on playing USL. I'm a "Hell No" on playing NLU. Nothing to be gained by playing USL. Absolutely nothing to be gained by playing NLU.

I think it would be OK to schedule them once every 3 years... just not every year.
