Like you I've got great memories of the Big Piney. Glad you posted!
Been a while Russ. No campground back then, but closer to Dover, and Long Pool sounds familiar. I had an uncle that navigated the place in a "boat" he made from 2 car hoods welded together. He got wet a lot.

    Enjoy your trip.

Could it have been this bridge? I'm also checking into one other possibility between this one and Dover where a newish (60's - 70's) has been built?

What do kayaks and Sun Belchers have in common?

Both are easier to handle if they're paddled once a week.

Got me to thinking. I believe the cable suspension one was on a smaller creeks a lil' farther into the hills toward Lutherville. Been too long ago. I have an older cousin that still "kicks" around the old home places up in the hills. His dad, my uncle, put about every cent he ever made into land purchases between the Arkansas river and other spots N/W of Russelville. The family had houses scattered all over out there ( seemed one per chile and grand child). All the scattering has left me directionless when I try to re-trace the backroads without my cousin's assistance.

I doubt the old bridge would still be there. In 1954 I certainly thought it was ready to cave. You could feel the thing swaying and dipping as the car went across. I do remember another narrow bridge after we left HWY 7, maybe on or off "old" highway 7. The road was not paved up to the second bridge.

Isn't it great to have a thread where you can connect in regard to good old memories???? Thanks, Lotsudo for the bump.

BTBers don't share much info any more. Does anyone else get information on practices, player injury updates and the like. The "recruit" forum is beginning to be as useless as a dew claw on a hound's leg.
