There is no way we are going to fire a first-year coach after a few losses to start the season. No way. Especially after losing 32 seniors and most of a coaching staff.

Having a "fire the coach" thread go to almost 30 pages after a week in which the team won is a little silly. Having it go on as a joke, like BTEII for example, would look bad.

I'm not happy about our record, and I'm not happy about losing a couple of games that we should have won. But, I also understand how it would look to the rest of the world if we fired Holtz right now. As I've said before, no first-year coach deserves all of the credit when things go well, or all of the blame when things go poorly.

If only there were a thread to tell me how to let a thread die....

Even if you haven't heard anything, it doesn't make Stray's comments highlighted above less true.

Imagine where Tech would be w/out BBB' negativity?

Incoming ACT scores would be up, National Merit Schollys would be up, better overall grade of students, etc.

    We must tone it down!

You know the more you comment on a thread, the longer it stays on the front page?

And it is supposition to say he is or isn't on the "hot seat" but as with all time will tell -

All I will say is that I know that everyone is VERY CONCERNED with how the season has started and I firmly believe that he has basically no honeymoon period

Being in a hot seat doesn't mean that firing is eminent...at least not to me. You better believe that if we finish with 2 or 3 wins that Holtz seat is HOT. I don't know many folks who are advocating firing him NOW. If nothing changes, we better be ready to fire him at the end of the season...I don't care how many players he lost.

If he coaches another game like Tulane and Army he should just resign. Seriously.

Trying to rerist nodding in agreement but can't. The play in those two games was so far beyond pathetic.

My reasoning: The players played decent to good in every game except those two so it had to be coaching.

Army was defensive coaching (offense played OK)
Tulane was offensive coaching (defense played OK)

Game plan and half time adjustments fall on HC.

Tulane rushed 9 or 10 in 2nd half and we were clueless.
Vs. Army, we didn't hit the guy w/out the ball and we had 4 DBs covering receivers all day instead of making tackles. That worked out well.

Agree with Army. That was insane, imo.

I don't know that we were clueless against Tulane, we just couldn't handle them. Dixon was hurt, Higgins was playing his first game ever. OL got dominated physically. Dropped TD pass. Missed an easy FG. It was a disaster all around.

    I said 2nd half TWon.

8 possessions in the 2nd half. Results...

    4 punts
1 missed FG (after Tulane turnover)
    1 interception
    1 fumble
1 TD drive (3 of 6 2nd half 1st downs came on this drive)
