    i.e...No I don't want to read their bio, doesn't so&so have a son?
But Briles would do to Tech what he did to Houston. That sounds bad. He didn't do to Houston what Dykes did to Tech, but he did leave them for a better job after a few years.

The secret for Tech is to find a Briles who will stay here and build the program, like he's done at Baylor.

Tech hasn't got the money to do what Baylor does, but I am ok with them leaving for better (their opinion) jobs. You want others to want your coach. We wish someone wanted ours. Much worse. I don't post much and I am not big on bashing player or coaches, but someone has to be accountable for this season.

What is wrong with hiring a coach every 3 years? If your search committee is smart they will just hire another good coach.

Except diamonds aren't rare and good coaches are. Very few make the leap straight into the HC position and are successful.

Maxfield could very well come in and be one of those exceptions.

I concur, I was pointing out that it could happen. I don't have a dog in the hunt, or know who Maxfield is. But as to whether his hiring could be worse? Wow, that would be tough. To be as compitant as a coach so out of the box with his thinking to call a run up the middle on 3rd and 19, your next coach could be wearing a helmet licking the window on his ride to the game in his bus of less than average length.

I don't have a problem hiring a new coach every 3 years if we are improving and they are hired away due to our success. Our glaring problem this time- we obviously didn't get the memo about hiring a good coach. We found a coaches son and settled- I can't say we got what we paid for either. This has to be right up there with the worst hire in history.

We hired cheap. We reduced the HC salary by $300K. That's not showing commitment to the guy we are trying to hire. This was D.R.'s parting shot and another part of his sad legacy.

Bottom line is our talent peaked in 2011 with Dooley's recruits. Dikes got some JuCo's and transfers and made his offense fly. Don't get me wrong. Any coach that has Hunter Lee on the roster and doesn't get him reps with a banged up Dixon should not be coaching at Tech. But I blame Dykes for this just as much or more than I blame Holtz.
Totally agree. Also Higgins will never be a very good.

Can you give me an example of a program that has changed coaches every 3 years and won consistently? Tech needs to build a program if we want to have long term success. Otherwise, Tech will continue the cycle of 1-2 good years followed by average to below average results.

I would like to point out that even being an alumnus doesn't count for s**t. Briles is a Houston Alum and he left for more money. So we can't count on that. What would Tim do if he built a winning program in three years and was offered a million dollar contract?

I disagree. Higgins will be a good qb at tech. He needs to stop throwing into coverage but he is the best option. The O responds better with him in. Maybe it is because scotty is so bad that Higgins looks better.

I think it is time to get the opinions off of here, and on to Dr. Guice's desk.
