Southeastern Louisiana just won their first Southland conference championship and their first trip to the FCS NCAA playoffs with a coach only in his second year there. Their coach has a pretty good resume. http://www.lionsports.net/coaches.as...&path=football

Arkansas St is on their third coach in 3 years. They are lined up to go to their third straight bowl game. So it can happen if you hire the right guy, and if your past coach recruits well. Oh yeah, not being cheap also helps. Arky St. paid Gus $850,000..among other things. http://thequad.blogs.nytimes.com/201...ew-coach/?_r=0. Their new coach is making $700,000k a year. Hugh Freeze only made $200,000. Seems like they realized how important it is to have a good football team.

I have been to 4 games this year and the coach's and player's are below average. The coaching needs to be focused on fundamentals, blocking and tackling and teaching the D ends to set the edge when the D is in man coverage. We only have a couple of positions with D1 ready to play talent but the lack of being prepared makes the problem even worse. I spoke with a old friend who played at Tech also and we both agreed that these players and coaches need to be more committed to winning. We have a lot of young players who don't know how yet. Holtz will get another year to play not to lose. I hope we go undefeated next year so Holtz can move on. He is a nice man but not the right fit for La Tech.

After seeing USM at least we are not in their situation. I didn't see a single D1 ready player on that team. FIU is just as bad as USM. CUSA has more teams in the bottom ten than the top 50. Tech should never be this bad.

My favorite part of the game was KD running over the Douglas kid........same Douglas that was committed to us whose dad played at Tech.......I chuckled loudly!!!!!!!

    Once again... please read this.

IF YOU REALLY WANT SCOTT MAXFIELD TO BE CONSIDERED FOR A FUTURE LOUISIANA TECH HEAD COACH JOB, KEEP HIS NAME OFF THIS BOARD. PLENTY OF THE ADMINISTRATION READ OUR BOARD AND SEEING HIS NAME HERE BEFORE THEY FIND IT THEMSELVES IS AN AUTOMATIC DIS-QUALIFIER FOR THE JOB. KEEP HIS NAME OFF OUR BOARD IF YOU WANT HIM HIRED!!

Luckily for you/him, Skip will get one more year before we have an opening.

Ed Orgeron. I want someone that can out recruit the facilities and if they leave or are a dud of a coach we still have talent on campus.

It's why I wanted to take a flyer on Houston Nutt when we hired Skippy. Recruiting ties to 2 bordering states.

Call a few Ole Miss alums about the idea of hiring Nutt man. Recruiting hasn't been his strong suit thus far.

They weren't paying enough. The new guy fixed that problem.

I agree........ We have, at least, one more year of Holtz. If we stink it up next year, I think they will pull the trigger. We are spitting in the wind on this right now, though. I am TOTALLY embarrassed about how we have done and I am the optimistic one. Honestly, even though I don't think Holtz is the one for us, I think if our OL was stronger, we would have won against Tulane, Kansas, and North Texas. Plus, even if we had lost, we would not have been totally humiliated by Rice and Army. He will have a recruiting season and a year to shore things up, but I can't see us having what we really want with him as the HC in the future.

LA Tech has already dug itself a big hole. Next year's schedule will be MUCH tougher than this year's cakewalk.

Skip Holtz is a horrible fit for LA Tech. He's completely killing our once proud football program. My family and friends attended that $hit show in Houston last week, and it was obvious that this 2013 team has quit on him. They mailed it in. It's some of the ugliest, uninspired football I've ever witnessed, high school games included. Consequently, I know a lot of people -- including myself-- that aren't going to make the drive to Ruston for this weekends finale against Tulsa. I'm just not buying what Holtz is selling. Maybe he can get his act together in 2014......but probably not.

I attended the Rice game as well and was extremely displeased with what I saw, but I will be there tomorrow in the cold rain congratulating our seniors and others who will play their last home game for us. Anybody who thinks these guys have quit, doesn't know these guys. They are committed, still talking about a bowl game, and trying to hold their heads high despite the fact that some in their fan base have quit on them. I'm not defending the coaches or their coaches; I am defending our Bulldogs.

I am going to start pushing for Terry Bowden, Tommy Bowden, and Lane Kiffin, who I know are our selection committee's top choices.

That is nuts to think that anyone should drive to TECH to watch a poorly coached, unprepared team play. You go for it. We will watch until the game is over at our house tonight. Unfortunately the game is probably going to be over long before the time runs off the clock. I have no intention of driving to Ruston to watch this in cold rainy weather.
