They hustled from what I can tell -

But like I said - it appeared to be the exception, not the rule

Maybe it was Hester and the cut off sleeves that pumped them up.

I am sure the team is a bit shell shocked like the fan base. Last year the offense could score on almost every possession. This year, it is more like once a half. I am sure this season has been depressing for them.

The way Rice manhandled us might have been the reason for Hester's tough guy gimmick. Army, North Texas, and Rice pounded us into submission.

North Texas didn't. They only had 165 yards rushing and 3.8 yards per carry. Army and Rice both had over 400 yards rushing on us.

The team did not look like it had quit against Tulsa. Some of our fans on the other hand, particularly many of those that chose not to attend because of the weather or because they thought we would not make a good showing .... heartless, gutless, namby-pamby quitters may accurately describe them.

An athlete that makes it to this level is a competitor. Believe me, they want to win. They want to beat the guy that lines up across from them. If they don't then maybe football isn't their thing in the first place. Maybe they should put on the Champ costume and goof off with the crowd. I sure hope Dykes recruited competitive guys and not goofballs.

Quit being so naive. Players are humans. Without proper guidance and discipline, they will slack off in practice, come to a game mentally unprepared to do their job, lose focus, or get frustrated and stop giving 100%. Good motivators keep it from happening.
