There are a lot more aftermarket parts for them now than there used to be. They are good guns and can be fun to shoot!

Yea, I found a scope mount that side mounts that doesn't require tapping the receiver. Might try it haven't decided.

I bought a British 303 carbine a while back and loved it. Only problems were that it kicked like a mule and I couldn't mount a scope on it. I eventually swapped it for something else, but I loved the gun.

I have a friend who owns a shop over here, he is supposed to be getting a shipment of MI Garand's this summer. That is the next piece I hope to pick up. I have gotten a nice collection of WW I and WW II guns kinda by accident at first, but now I am actively hunting certain ones.

I have heard the 303's had some pop to them. Never fired one though.

Are they new or old Garands?

I would love to have a Garand. They are classic rifles with a ammunition you can find most anywhere.

    Old garands.

That's one thing I like about the Nagant, 7.62x54 is everywhere and compared to most things right now is less than a dollar a round.

I'm selling my Remington Youth Model 700 chambered in .308. It has a black synthetic stock and has the deck and Leoupold scope rings already installed. Asking $250...unless I know you personally or someone that I know off this board can vouch that it is for your young'un...then I'll knock it down to $175. It would do my heart good to know that this gun would be somebody's kid's first real rifle. I bought it two years ago so that I could have a compact rifle for the "tight" stands on our place.

Got a very barely used DU edition Mossberg 500A from a Remington guy who couldn't get used to the safety placement. Got a great price on it. Fit and finish are WAY better than the last 870 I owned.

Now I just need to find a similar deal on a 30-06 and I'm set!

I just picked up a Para Ordnance P-14 40 stainless. I always wanted a Para and am trying to keep everything in 40. Now if I could only get a P-7.

Hoping someone here can make recommendations. I'm looking for the deer rifle equivalent of a Remington 870 or Mossberg 500. I want a deer rifle that's affordable, accurate, and durable. I'm not so concerned with cosmetics, but I want this rifle to last as long as I do.

The "entry-level" market seems to get mixed reviews. Remington 770 seems to be pretty well written off by most. The Savage Axis and Ruger American get better reviews along with the Marlin X7 series. Are these worth the price or is it better to save an extra $150 and get a Savage 10/110 or a Remington 700 SPS?

    What are your recommendations?

    Thanks in advance.

I like the Ruger American. I'd try the Mossberg if that doesn't work out?

I'd love an XCR if I had the dough for it! I think if I were going with one of the entry level rifles, I may go with the Marlin X series. As it is, I can get a 700 ADL for about $380 or save up another $120 and get Savage 110. I think that's probably the route I'll go. I'll check pawn shops in the mean time, but what I've seen lately is over-priced bolt guns at most of the pawn shops.
