Sim may have told him he is "redshirting," but technically he was cut. If he isn't on the 35-man roster (which none of those 5 are), that means he has been cut and cannot use Tech's athletic facilities nor practice with the team nor sit on the bench, etc. It also means he doesn't get any scholarship money if he was previously on scholarship. If a player is truly redshirting, then he is still listed on the roster, still has access to all the facilities, still is part of the team, and still has access to scholarship money if applicable. Sim may have told all 5 that they are "redshirting," but it was probably a nice way of Sim saying they were cut but still wants them to come out for the team again next year.
