I am guessing you are queer...it really doesn't bother me, but it must bother you. It all started with me saying that I hope our next coach is not a lesbian...I still stand by that. This is a message board. You telling people to shut up is idiotic... I do interpret The Bible literally. The Bible is crystal clear on the sin of homosexuality, as it is murder, lust, adultery, stealing, idolatry, etc... Yes, I am a sinner, as are you, as every person reading BBB. We are all redeemed through the blood of Christ. No man has ever lived like Jesus, and none ever will...what is your point? I also don't want someone over 70 to be our next coach... does that mean I hate all people over 70? No. It means that I don't hiring someone over 70 is best for the program, as I don't think hiring someone that is gay is best for the program. What is your point again?

WBB Ticket Sales dollars/Announced home attendance (average)

    2009-2010--$109,156 / 30,449 (2342)
    2010-2011--$100,515 / 31,611 (2258)
    2011-2012--$104,089 / 45,161 (3474)
    2012-2013--$ 90,777 / 33,260 (2376)
    2013-2014--$ ??,??? / 27,746 (1850)

Based on the 4-year average (2009-10 to 2012-2013), each person of announced attendance added $2.88 to total ticket sales. Using the 2013-2014 announced attendance, ticket sales for this season would be under $80,000 total.

Considering that ticket sales would likely have been below (probably well below) $80,000 in two more seasons under Weatherspoon, an increase of $20,000 per season over the "would have been" figures would make back 10% of the reported buyout figure.

I have 2 things to say concerning the current direction of the thread.

    1. You should love and respect your neighbor no matter their choices or lifestyle. That is Jesus.
    2. You cannot sit idle and watch as others act, speak, or live in a way that you know contradicts the way God had instructed those who believe. Also Jesus.

Jesus was not tolerant. He was loving and compassionate, but wasn't okay with people who lived in opposition to his teaching. Saying that a person who does not accept any lifestyle outside of theirs is not being "Christian" is completely inaccurate.

This is why he cannot be A.D. I think he will calm down in time & come to understand that it was the right move. I will say that it does piss me off reading negative comments on this board about Spoon. She has always been a great ambassador for us. Same as Karl, TB, Kix, Trace & countless others.

I really think Karl just believes that "a group of former athletes" deserve the same seat at the table as this "athletic council" on decision making. I think he is right & more people with a vested interest deserve to be heard.

A persons' or coaches sexual preference has nothing to do with their ability to recruit & coach or not. Nothing biblical here. You can either coach or not. As for the "values" that we like to discuss around Tech, make your grades, do your job to the best of your ability, stay out of trouble & give back. I didn't hear all of you complaining about Spoon when she was tearing up the basketball court back in the day. To my knowledge, she has never come out to promote her lifestyle (especially not in Ruston). So what is the issue? This entire thread should be moved to the pit immediately. It is nothing but trash.

You may not have gotten the memo but common sense posts are not allowed in this thread.

Sin is sin in The Bible...the penalties have changed. The gospel is not confined to a particular nation, it is for all people. Are you asking me to deny the very heart of my Christian beliefs?

Remember the implosion several ago of the really good ULM women's program? And, although many parents and players could care less about the coach's sexual orientation, a significant number of parents and potential recruits would be uncomfortable with a lesbian coach. If you had a daughter what would you prefer for her?

I will not respond to any comments regarding my post, so please save your ammo.
Why would there be any more tension with a lesbian coach than with a straight coach?

I find it ironic that a number of people think we should search nationally while many want to only apply local standards.

I cannot believe that I am going here! Rooster, have you ever taken anything that was not yours (even as a child)? Taken home a pen from work that you did not pay for, been given the wrong change (too much) from a restaurant...etc? I'm sure most of us have done something in the past that we are not proud of. You know what the literal biblical punishment is for these acts...right? Are you willing to cut off the hand of the 8 year old with sticky hands. Gouge out the eyes of the 14 yr old that stares at your daughter or stone to death others'. Glass houses for many of us my friend! And I am not in any mood to purposely break the window or walls of "my house. Even in a small town like Ruston...why can we not all get along?
