1599 universities wish they were us!! For those interest, university just sent out memo requesting donations for Scholarship fund. i have found it easy to have account drafted each month --easy to hit 300 at $25 600 at $50. I get drafted each month for 5-6 different Tech things -- my bucket list was to be able to give back one day for what Tech did for me. IE-- my first semester ( yes, semester not quarter) was less than $400-- less than 1,000 for yr 1

Here's how Tech ranks in each of the categories Germdawg posted:

??? in Undergraduate Academic Reputation (22.5%) -- It gives a score but not a ranking. I'd have to look up each school individually to figure this one out. I can tell we are toward the bottom though.

#203 in Graduation Rate Performance (7.5%) and Retention (22.5%)

#144 in Faculty Resources Rank (20%)

#120 in Student Selectivity Rank (12.5%)

    #265 in Financial Resources (10%)

#98 in Alumni Giving Rate (5%)

We are #265 of 268 ranked national universities in the financial resources category. That's the biggest thing holding us back. This is where state budget cuts really hurt us.

Financial resources (10 percent): Generous per-student spending indicates that a college can offer a wide variety of programs and services. U.S. News measures financial resources by using the average spending per student on instruction, research, student services and related educational expenditures in the 2012 and 2013 fiscal years. Spending on sports, dorms and hospitals doesn't count.

So I would guess that the drop is due at least somewhat to the fact that the faculty have had no raises for seven years even to adjust for inflation.

U.S. News and World Report has ranked the University of Louisiana at Monroe in the top tier for southern universities as part of its 2015 “Best Regional Universities” ranking. It was the highest ranked public Louisiana institution in the list for southern universities at 81. An accompanying list was released, which ranked only the state-supported public schools in the region. ULM came in at number 39 in the South for public universities and was again the highest ranked Louisiana institution.

I cannot believe they actually ran this, especially without more background on the differences between regional and national universities.

And that they left off "regional" in every sentence after the first one.

Tech and ULM had two head-to-head athletic contests. Tech won one, and ULM won the other.

    TNS headlines:

    The first contest read:

"Tech ekes out win, and ULM comes in second".

    The second contest read:

    ULM WINS....TECH COMES IN LAST".

It ain't what you say, but how you say it!

Sounds like Dr. Guice is doing a poor job delivering our message to the press all over the state.

    The Nola Times-Picayune's take...

    http://www.nola.com/news/baton-rouge...ll_in_bes.html

Tulane continues to be Louisiana's top-rated university, checking in at a tie for 54th. The state's only other Tier 1 school is Louisiana Tech University, tied for 190th. University of Louisiana-Lafayette and University of New Orleans made the Tier 2 list, which is broken down alphabetically.

    I'll take it!

Here is the Tech Press Release on the Web - http://news.latech.edu/2014/09/09/lo...kL8tSk.twitter

Louisiana Tech earns Tier One ranking from U.S. News & World Report

Louisiana Tech University has achieved a Tier One ranking among “National Universities” for the fourth consecutive year, according to U.S. News & World Report’s 2015 Best Colleges list released Tuesday.
Louisiana Tech, along with LSU and Tulane University, were the only institutions in the state to achieve a Tier One “National Universities” ranking. Louisiana Tech landed at No. 201 on the latest US News & World Report list.
In addition to earning a spot on the Tier One National Universities list, Louisiana Tech ranked among the Top 40 in the nation for graduating students with the least amount of debt. This was the fifth time in the past six years that Louisiana Tech has achieved this distinction. Louisiana Tech also earned a spot among the nation’s Top 120 Public Universities as well as earning national rankings for its undergraduate engineering programs and undergraduate business programs.

And for whatever reason, The Shreveport Times is refusing to publish this press release. This morning after they published Centenary's and not Tech's press release, I asked them to run Tech's. Still no response. They run a bunch of irrelevant Tech press releases that no one cares about, but they refuse to run this one...
