I support amnesty. But, I want it done according to our constitution.

    Don't believe the lies Woof!

The Immigration Reform and Control Act (IRCA), enacted November 6, 1986, also known as the Simpson-Mazzoli Act, signed into law by Ronald Reagan on November 6, 1986, is an ACT OF CONGRESS which reformed United States immigration law.

So what does Congress do after Obama makes new law tonight? Do they laugh it off and say it's not legal and enforceable law? Or do they have to make new law cancelling Obama's law?

I have pondered that question a good deal. When two of the three branches are rogue, it makes it difficult.

The minimum that should be done is to put it on the record. File the bills to undo it. That will be vetoed. File the suits to require him to enforce the law. They will be kicked out for lack of standing. But, at least we will be on record.

Hopefully the firing of the socialist tyranny will be complete in 2016.

For many years now I have been the one voice in the wilderness about the legislative branch abdicating power to the executive branch. This creating law by executive order is not new. The legislative branch has also allowed the executive branch to create laws by so called administrative regulations. The legislative branch has allowed the executive branch to declare war since Korea. The chickens have come home to roost.

The only thing remaining is for somebody to cross the Rubicon. I'm still not convinced that that somebody isn't Obama.

    Re: Immigration

Of the 6 immigration actions by Reagan and Bush, 2 (1 each) were broad to meet requirements of IRCA. The other 4 were targeted to specific nationalities (Poland, Nicaragua, and twice for China).

1987 (Reagan) - Attorney General Meese authorized INS district directors to defer deportation proceedings of certain family memebers of aliens legalized through IRCA.

1990 (Bush Sr) - INS Commissioner McNary issued "Family Fairness" policy for family members of aliens legalized through IRCA. The policy dropped the where "compelling or humanitarian factors existed" requirements and allowed the family members t apply for employment authorization.

Of course, what Woof, AIC, and all the other stupid people don't tell you is just how limited this all was. The criteria was high to be recognized under IRCA, then even higher for those attached to the IRCA recognized immigrants. In other words, you had to be worth something.

Uh oh. He might have a case then. They are valuable for future elections.

How did Republicans get branded as racists when Reagan and Bush were so good to them?

Republicans are branded racist because they are against anything that gives people something. The people that need those somethings the most are minorities. Therefore, it is racist to be against those somethings. Giving an inch is not enough to satiate the somethings that are missing. You must give everything.

In other words, Republicans are capitalist to the extreme, Democrats are communist to the extreme. Capitalist gives nothing and takes everything. Communism gives and takes everything. People will always vote whatever gives them something.

I know. I should have put that question in the "Why Must Democrat Tell Lies" thread.

Both parties continue to consolidate power in Washington. Our problem is, we have believed Republicans believe in a free market.

Extreme capitalism is another form of socialism.

    Freedoms have dwindled how?

    Free market isn't absolute.

    Picture is true, though.

    Re: Immigration

Any idea as to whether this immigration reform will be across the board or apply just to Mexicans, Central Americans, Cubans, etc. In other words, will all the Indians and Philliipinos working in the U.S. as onshore representatives for offshore companies be able to bring their families over.

I'm hearing those in favor of this say it will drive salaries up though none have been able to explan how. Anyway, it seems to me there could be a ripple effect in the IT market if companies start hiring these folks that have been on work visas to full time jobs. I can almost hear some big company saying it has stopped out-sourcing/off-shoring it's IT dept and have created x new jobs. The press release just won't mention 75 percent of those jobs are former employees of their former out-sourcing partner.
