Concessions fail

. Person In AD spent about 25 minutes with me, made it clear he reads BBB -- we are working on some great fundraising opportunitys for program. We both agree that concessions concerns rate pretty low on priority list-- focused on $$ for assistant coaches, bowl game, scheduling , --- all in all it would be fair to say he has thick skin and understands BBB has a fair amount of folks with zero understanding of our major needs and challenges of AD department. We had pretty good laugh about several posters -- he speaks highly of Dwayne ( seriously, not being sarcastic). I mean come on folks, we are playing for CUSA championship and a thread about no hot dogs is still running?? And yes, ad department is getting paid for something like breach of contract and lot of contacts about concessions in future BUT for some reason they are waiting till after Bowl is over, I can not understand why they are focused on Marshall and Bowl!-- Instead of concessions

The post above clearly demonstrates just how ignorant --and arrogant-- some of our fans AND administration people are. They just don't get it.

Let me make it simple for you: a lot of us traveled a long way to make it to last week's 11AM kickoff. We don't live in Ruston like the Tech bureaucrat you shared belly laughs with. With many fans, when you run out of concessions --or have bad bathrooms, etc....-- certain members of "the family" get unhappy and DON'T want to deal with it again. They'll find something else to do next week, and often make the rest of the family members do it with them.

Does the old saying, "if momma ain't happy, nobody's happy", resonate with you? But I don't want to just blame the ladies. Anybody that pays as much money as we do for LA Tech football shouldn't have to put up with this nonsense.

Poor concessions is a serious issue that can negatively impact families and future attendance. And the fact that you and some ignorant overpaid bureaucrat sat around laughing about it was disrespectful to our fan base. And I can't believe you were crazy enough to share just how ignorant the two of you were.

Fair weather softies - if no food (which is bad) is going to stop you going to a game (maybe it impacts the 11am ones) that normally starts at 6pm at JAS then no wonder we struggle to increase the core group - too picky. I have attended games elsewhere where food was plentiful - cr4p and high $$$$ but lots to be had. Didn't stop me going again - just planned my day to not need big meal at game, popcorn or something small was enough. Again not a great food gameday experience - made worse by the time - but if that makes you decide to not go (when the on field was worth the entry fee + some) then they probably don't go for MANY other reasons / excuses in any given season.

I really hope this attitude is not representative of the ADs position.

Hard core fans ate lunch at their tailgates. Fair weather softies are precisely who Tech MUST cater to.

It's not just about adults either. If a casual fan has a hungry kid and can't get him or her so much as a hot dog, they're leaving.

When I pay money for a ticket to a ballgame, I'm not paying to find out who won. I can see that on tv. When i buy a ticket, it's because I want a gameday experience, and stadium food is no small part of that for most people.

You should really go hang out with your boy LFR on the other board. Yall can remind each other over and over again how important yiu are and how much better you are than all the other fans.

We're trying to build a business (Tech football). As a loyal fan (and I presume, supporter), you should care about this issue. You should hold the LA Tech bureaucrats accountable.

Mommy , lines are too long-- I dont want to go to football game!! Mommy Tech beat Rice 77-31 and won division, one of greatest games I have ever seen ( my son in law said that) -- anybody think he said one thing about concessions??? Somehow we drive 3 hours roundtrip for games and not coming because of concessions?? He'll-- tag had food and so did alumn pavilion. You really need councilling if you believe great concessions make anybody come to game . Please lord, find me one person who agrees that you will never come to game because you could not get frigging hot dog or pizza!! NEVER come to game. Never got food before an 11 games? I had big breakfast 8. Gumbo grits at Argent pavilion 10 . Eggs - hash brown burrito at Tag 10:30) oh, blue bell at argent!! My goodness this may be most worthless post Ever!! And heaven forbid stopping after game (3 pm ) and getting something-- we did not because we kinda did something stupid, we ate before game, gave kids snow cones and shared large Johnys we purchased before kickoff--- and you want to run program because you are better planner. Good grief!!!

This isn't the Marines, it is an entertainment venue for most. If it sucks to be there, people with no emotional investment WILL NOT BE BACK! The little things matter until we have 40,000 season ticket holders.

I would say that either the person that talked to you is an idiot, or they are going to be annoyed with your post. I don't worry about concessions, I bring my own generally because they don't have Coke products and I do. However; when my kids are hungry and they don't have anything, we would simply leave and listen to the game on the way home. The disrespect this person had for the fans is not something that will warm the heart of the TECH faithful- and I doubt seriously he thought you would post about it. And for the record, concessions rates pretty low on the priority list for me. But, any idiot can have food for people to buy- and yet TECH was not able to do that on Sat. I would be more concerned with the screw up than laughing at the fans.

Plain and simple college athletics is a business. Put a poor product out and you lose business. In this case the causal fan that Tech must work hard to get and retain. Without those customers, then our attendance will always be what it is, a core of 10-15,000, some students and the invisible fans that push us over 20,000.

I forgot to tell you if it's not an 11 game-- go tailgate before the game, it's free and you should be able to last til game over.
