Yep, word on the street is Tech was a little suprised by the CUSA requirement that the Band had to attend the Championship Game, some one didn't read the fine print or let the band know, LOL. But as 06 say's it's paid for by CUSA, also apparently some of the details in the by-laws is that it must be a full band (i.e. no Pep band) and if the distance is <850 miles CUSA will only pay for a bus, if >850 CUSA will pay for a plane, Ruston-Huntington 851 *whew*
They've know about it since at least November 6 and started planning then.

Hi, Gang! I've just spent the last couple of hours poring over the CUSA Operations Manual for the Conference Championship Game. OMG, here we go. It looks like our Bulldogs stand a great chance to play in the CUSA Championship Game. In reading the manual, it appears that the band and spirit groups are REQUIRED to attend with CUSA paying for much of the associated expenses. The game is scheduled for Saturday, Dec 6. Time will be determined by ESPN.
Currently, Marshall has the i...nside track on hosting the game. They are located in Huntington, WV. Looks like a bus trip just about the same length as El Paso Hoop Troop last year. (13 hrs) According to the Game Ops manual, 800 miles is a guide for bus or air. Ground distance is just over 800 miles. I'm guessing we will be told to bus it. For us to host, we need to win out (UAB, ODU, Rice) AND Marshall needs to lose one game (probably Rice is best chance). Fingers crossed.
Therefore, we have much to plan for as a contingency. This has to be set up now or we will get caught short in preparation needs.
Accordingly, the BOP Rehearsal for Nov 11 that I cancelled this week, IS BACK ON. We HAVE to meet to begin preparations for participation in the Championship Game. Hopefully, I will have more definitive information by the time we get together.
I've added BOP rehearsals on the evening of Monday, Dec 1 and a band camp type schedule for Tuesday, Dec 2. Classes begin on Wednesday, Dec 3. We will also meet 430-630, Thursday, Dec 5. The band calendar has been modified to reflect these changes. Please keep in mind, this is ONLY if we are in the Championship Game.
FYI, dorms open Sunday afternoon, Nov 30
If we are traveling, then I would anticipate a late Thursday, Dec 4, departure if by bus to arrive in Huntington by noon on Friday to cover required events. It appears that we will be allowed 2 overnights. So Friday night and Saturday night in Huntington with return to Ruston on Sunday.
SECTION LEADERS: Please contact your sections to make sure they know of these changes.

Yeah the FB post is what I was referencing; don't have FB at work so couldn't look it up, Since Nov 6th isn't that long, I would have thought the Ath Dept/Conference would have noted it to the school/band of the new requirements when we joined the conference. I.E. Welcome to CUSA, here a some new requirements for our new conference...
I think the Regal Blues are going as well.
BoP is bringing a 127-ish person band. BoP and Regal Blues are sharing a plane to Marshall.
Source: In band, and going to WV to watch Tech upset Marshall
I was asked to drive the Regal Blues in an RV, but dang it... I hope they can find someone!
