Marshall's defense had nothing to do with this either.

And I won't even mention the fact that Sokol couldn't hit the side of a barn in the 2nd half.

I'm telling ya, Sokol's 2nd half performance looked very suspicious to me. Maybe he's injured, or maybe it's something else. But it was not due to Marshall's defense. Sokol literally GAVE that game away.
Agree completely except that the ball was at midfield on the first play after a Marshall punt when Sokol spit the bit.

They had as good D that gave up 67 points to a team we gave 10.
Nothing impressed me about NSU's or ODU's defenses, and they likewise shut our O down in 2nd half.
That's on play calling, execution, and TOs.

Seriously, I was much more impressed with several other defenses we managed to beat than Marshall

I think Cody didn't make his grades, we didn't tell anyone and tried to put last years QBs in his uniform.

This was a joke, not serious.

    :bigcry:

Tough conditions - thought we could get away in 3rd Qtr but it didn't happen. Many reasons we lost today - but we were leading until the last few minutes...don't forget many reasons why we were even there in the first place. Elation at beating Rice so well last week, deflated at loss today...

However, how were your concessions? At my place they sucked...family will not be watching ESPN2 again unless we order more / better pizza and the drinks get chilled better! :icon_wink:

The end of this game left a bad taste in my mouth. Marshall was CLEARLY short of the first down. I'm not sure how it would have affected the outcome of the game, but if he was out of bounds it would have been HUGE for Tech.

Also, if ANYONE on the defense had still been playing at the end of the game, we would have recovered the fumble and had a great chance.

Well I still gotta disagree....somebody stepped up with about 5 minutes on the clock and put us in a 4th and 6 for a first down around the 35 yard line. Shortly afterwards Marshall marched down the field like on a Sunday stroll and poked it in. And I believe our next offensive series was cut short by Marshall's DEFENSE (again). Yes there was a receiver coming across from the left....Sokol never saw the linebacker floating over from the right about 5-8 yds in front of the receiver. Now maybe Marshalls defense didn't do anything by your standards but the way I saw it was....they did exactly what they had to do when they had to do it.....the same cannot be said for our offense or our defense.

Proud of the players thay stepped up for the schmuck starters that FLUNKED OUT. Mahaffery played a great game. And the linebacker Villevez (?) decleated their hoss back Johnson when he was pass blocking and put him on the bench. Made other good plays too.

We didn't miss them AT ALL!

Not so much on Carter and Obama. I thought we had plenty of reason to come out flat. Players didn't make grades. We should have been hosting the game, whatever. The offense did not look good, but when the defense gave them a golden opportunity they took advantage of it more often than not. We lead a team that had only been beaten once for almost the entire game. I'm pissed we lost, but I thought the coaches had the team ready to play. Sokol looked bad today, but so did Cato. We had pressure on him, but some of his poor throws were unforced. I think the weather was a bigger factor than some of us realize on both offenses.

We sure had it good a couple of years ago with Allen punting and Nelson kicking.
