I got what she was trying to say, just said it wrong. Still disagree with the whole premise. It is just too ingrained in the left, though. They tried making that a narrative in Ferguson, too, as well as any time a vet does anything. It's sickening. The problems of the world are not because of us.

I was glad to see she apologized this morning on the air--she took full responsibility, which was appropriate.

If I haven't had to deal with this particular charge a couple of times for just being a veteran, maybe. If I haven't had to read these type of charges from the left on a near-daily basis, maybe. But I have been told directly and indirectly too many times I'm evil, not human, a baby-killer, a bomb waiting to go off, and so many other things just for being a veteran. I let it slide because people can say whatever they want and none threatened me physically, emotionally, or financially (sort of). I'm lucky in that regard. But others aren't.

The apology is hollow because she isn't doing it because she firmly believes it was a mistake to make that accusation. It wasn't an accidental accusation. She was continuing the narrative that it's all veterans fault. The apology is hollow because her viewers were in agreement, and the reaction from the left was in agreement. But someone in corporate saw the negative reaction from veterans, a demographic they desperately want to cater to after years of denigrating us (and failing ratings), so they forced her apology. So she did her part. She said the words. There was no meaning behind them. They were just words.

The "broad brush" approach is the same one that's wrongly applied to some individuals who belong to many groups (veterans, Republicans, Democrats, Blacks, Whites, left-leaning media, right-leaning media). I believe people should be judged on their own merits, not by their group membership. Your assumptions about her could be seen as consonant with others' wrong assumptions about you.

As someone from left of center and a strong supporter of our military and Veterans, I just want to say thank you for all you have done to help protect our country.

Agree. Money matters aside, she likely truly believes the military is to blame, and looters/rioters are justified in their criminal behavior.

I would normally probably agree, except there was nothing in her mannerisms, inflections, or anything else that even remotely hinted at any remorse or truth to her words. Unless you can point something out I missed, I stand by my statement that it was a hollow apology at best.
