Why will you not answer the questions I asked you? I honestly want to understand why you apparently believe what you claim. The topic I asked you about is fairly trivial, but I think your honest responses would provide me insight into the "liberal" mindset. Is it too much to ask a "liberal" to explain their position and reasoning?

Need a cell phone or a landline. The program subsidizes both, but you can only take one. We, as a society, recognize that people sometimes need help. Some government help is necessary but shouldn't be a way of life. This is why we have "entitlements" now. This program is funded through the Universal Service Fund.

The voter ID stuff in of itself isn't racist. But liberals view the reason for it being implemented as racist. At its core, voter ID laws are to stop people from voting. Despite the numerous free and easy opportunities, though, many people don't have an ID. Don't ask how they get anything done, because there is never an answer. But, as with a lot of other things, blacks are disproportionally represented in the no-ID-camp. Therefore, to liberals, voter ID laws are an attempt to stop blacks from voting as it was done in the past.
Yes, people need to be able to communicate in emergencies. Providing a form of communication to those with physical/mental limitation is one thing that should be addressed/solved. Providing it to people that are able to work is quite another. I know in my hometown, the vast majority of recipients of taxpayer provided phones are not physically or mentally impaired. I suspect the primary usage of the phones is in pursuit of illegal activities.

For most of my life, private telephones were considered luxuries. Sure, people need or would like to have phones for the reasons you posted. What you didn't address is why it is other people's responsibility to provide them.

Whatever the justification, taxpayer paid phones, among many things, is something that is not affordable. The federal government is constitutionally tasked with two things. Delivering the mail (infrastructure) and providing defense of the country. The United States did those things quite well for a long time. Now it does not -- because the federal government attempts endeavors it is not designed for, nor capable of doing.

I understand your response regarding Voter ID. I also understand what you stated does not indicate your support of the liberals view of the ID issue. I also know their view is total nonsense and I truly don't understand how it is an issue because it is absolutely absurd.

Well, of course. And I think that's what TT meant. But he chose his words poorly, and played right into the stereotype.

While I don't share all of TT's views on immigration, he makes some sound points. Moreover, I like & respect him tremendously. But conservatives don't do their cause (nor Christ's) any favors when they use the words 'hate' and people' in the same sentence.

Not gonna trifle over words, hate? dislike? not-too-crazy-about?

I am not "fond" of illegals. Just not. They should be rounded up and escorted OUT of our country, period. They are criminals....no, that implies a citizen violating our laws. They are worse. They are invaders. We should deploy our military on the border with orders to shoot first, ask questions later. I also advocate mine fields and motion-detector machine guns...oh with fences and warning signs written only in English.

At least you admit reading more into the statement than was there.

    Re: Immigration

Makes one wonder. I actually see Obama winning with this ruling.

Judge orders Obama administration to release illegal immigrants from 'deplorable' facilities

A federal judge in California has ruled that hundreds of illegal immigrant women and children in U.S. holding facilities should be released, another apparent setback for President Obama’s immigration policy, according to
    The Los Angeles Times.
U.S. District Judge Dolly Gee said Friday that the conditions in which the detainees are being held are “deplorable” and violate parts of an 18-year-old court settlement that put restrictions on the detention of migrant children.
The ruling also raises questions about what the administration will do with the estimated 1,700 parents and children at three detention facilities, two in Texas and one in Pennsylvania.
Last year, tens of thousands of women and unaccompanied minors from Central America arrived at the Southwest border, with many believing a rumor that unaccompanied children and single parents with at least one child would be allowed to stay.
More than 68,000 of them were apprehended and detained while officials decided whether they had a right to stay.
