For the Jaguar Nation, a one-hour drive is comparable to a 31/2-hour drive. In other words, proximity does'nt mean much until the distance start to exceed 6 hours, roughly. So much for the attendance question, I guess we'll just have to wait and see! The doubters will continue to doubt until they can doubt no more! Too bad for the multitudes who, after having driven from afar, won't be able to secure a ticket to witness the Jaguar victory. Our focus at this juncture, however, should be to figure out a way to come into JAS and pull a "Northwestern State" on them!
Dude. Stop...PLEASE...don't jinx us!We said the same things about UCA, Northwestern, Southeastern, and Grambling. We won 3 of those four, true enough, but if our guys think this is going to be a cakewalk...it will be a LONG night for us all. Our guys need to respect those Southern Jags like they would Alabama or Ohio State, and bring their A game. I promise you SU will bring theirs.
I know one thing, I would MUCH rather have a stadium full of SU fans than a stadium full of ULL fans. I made the trip to SU for the men's basketball game last year and lost count of the amount of SU fans that welcomed my wife and I to the campus and thanked us for coming. SU is a very classy school.
Who had more fans lol.
You SU guys posting in this thread will like this because it supports your statements of this being a sell out. A lady I work with attended Grambling and her mother is a Grambling alumni. She is thinking about getting some family/friends together to tailgate at this game. The thing is, we are in DALLAS. Her mother may live in Chicago - based on past talks about spending time in N. LA. She is already concerned about finding a hotel in at least Monroe.
You would think that the university would take the proper steps to ensure concessions are fully stocked with loads of extras. Sayng that, who would we email to bring this point to the front and make sure we are pushing the right buttons to ensure a decent gameday experience. At least never run out of ice or water!
I see all the evidence that Southern has traveled incredibly well (ULL, NSU). But I also saw on their website they led all HBU last season in attendance of only 15,000+ in their 28,000 seat stadium. so I am still not sure how to view their potential for travel to Ruston. it is almost like Southern fans attend road / neutral site games better than in their own stadium. it is peculiar.
It's a true statement that some of our fans only go to away games. For whatever reason, when Greg Lefleur was our AD he changed our tailgating policy and pissed off a lot of our fans. Weather it was moving folks tailgate spots, making really stupid tailgate rules or moving the time of our homegames. We sold 10,000 season tickets the year before he was hired. He managed to alienate a lot of our fans when he did a buy one get one free ticket sale after folks purchased their season tickets one year the week before our first home game. Our ticket sales were reduced significantly the next year.
For our level SU does great. SU finished in the top 5 in FCS in attendance and has led many years. SU has the 2nd highest ticket prices in the start behind LSU.
