I can't believe that he didn't see the defensive player.
He was so caught up in outrunning the other two guys to the edge he didn't expect the safety to come from the other side. I can't believe he got up. I thought he was in the next play, though.. Then left after that drive and didn't come back
Nick Thomason is one of favorite players to watch. Of course I have a bunch of favorites!!! He brings it every play and seems to always be near the ball whether it be behind the line of scrimmage or 10 yards deep. I wondered who was going to replace one of my favorite players from last year -- Mitch Villemez -- who also played with a lot of passion and energy. Maybe it was just me, but it seemed like more players came and kneeled down near Nick when he went down than is usually the case, especially when the injury is not the result of a vicious hit and the player is knocked out or not moving. It made me feel like he is well liked, or at least respected, by his teammates. I hope he is back in the lineup soon.
I've never worn a football helmet before, but I suspect it is difficult to see much to the sides and rear. And when playing football you have to know you could get hit at any time. He seems the announcers said something to the effect that Carlos needed to have his head on a swivel. I wish him a speedy return.
I agree. He didn't seem to notice the other guy until the last second. It was similar to last week when Driskel took a hit that he seemed to not see coming until the last second.
I don't agree with those saying it was targeting. Maybe there was helmet to helmet contact but the defender led with his shoulder into Carlos' chest and shoulder. If it was our guy clocking a Rice player then everyone would be praising it as a clean hit.
Seeing Nick on the turf clutching his knee and then being helped to the sideline without really being able to put pressure on it was the biggest OH CRAP MOMENT for me this season. Those shoes just seem too big to fill with the limited experience behind him. It was a huge relief to see him walking the sideline and testing it out. Also good to know we have North Texas and a bye the next two weeks.
Hope Nick gets healed up soon, we are going to need him. Until that happens though, "Mr. Durman, welcome to the show!'
you never know with college football, and north texas did just beat utsa. but I do not worry too much if Henderson and Thomason can't go next week. then a bye week before the last two games. and Thomason has been really good.
Good thing we have three bye weeks to get healthy for Southern Miss.
The next two games fit right into the definition of trap games for Tech.
