Those items are what the Fox News article stated were being taken back by the federal government. This is why I am confused as to why the local police force is upset. If there is another link showing that the local police force is having their body armor, assault weapons, and armored vehicles that are not tracked taken away, please show me that link. But the prohibited items listed in the article are armored TRACKED vehicles, weaponized aircraft and vehicles, .50 caliber weapons and ammo, bayonets, and camouflage.

The article gives you a "Prohibited list" in which it defines all the crap you just posted. I am telling you that Cammo is given out because its cheap for using in practice and is not used in police situations. Nobody has weaponized aircraft and if they do then yeah they shouldn't have gotten it to begin with. Bayonets serve no purpose at all and aren't used by any law enforcement group. Its the Tracked Vehicles that are very valuable to a police department as it helps you move police officers during times of riot and hostage situations. I have never seen anyone with .50 Caliber Weapons in a local police department. Speaking to my buddies here they have quit giving surplus rifles and vest to police departments. You don't hear about that do you.

I honestly did not know that the police force had armored tracked vehicles, which is somewhat alarming to me. And if the government is not giving vests to the local police force, then that IS wrong, but I can't believe that there is not a link or proof that rifles and vests are being taken away.

They aren't being taken away. They are no longer offering them to local police. Armored Track vehicles shouldn't be alarming to anyone. They are to keep rioters from picking off Cops trying to do their job.

The National Guard is under the orders of the President and the US Military. Kind a defeats the purpose doesn't it.

Exactly! Again, American civilians first line of true defense against an outside force (out of control Feds, Radical muslims or local Riots) is our local county/parish Sheriff and his police force, then our city police force and then ourselves.

The governor of each state controls their national guard. In time of war the president can use them against foreign enemies. That goes all the way back to the War for Independence. The National Guard would be loyal to its state if there was a coup.

The governor can call in the Natuonal Guard if there is rioting.

The police are for law enforcement only. For the life of me, I can't imagine you wanting the police to have a different mindset.

Grenade launchers launch more than grenades.....smoke, illumination, tear gas, etc. And a nice concussion grenade accurately launched from 200m away would be better than running up to a house and tossing it through a window.
