    Re: Bowl Attendance

My best suggestion is that if you stay downtown take the streetcar to uptown. There is literally a 1000 different places to eat along the street car line. As long as its not a chain check it out. I also recommend taking the street car at night, especially this time of year with the Christmas lights up. Also if your going to do Celebration in the Oaks in City Park I recommend doing it on Thurday night if your in town early. We went last Saturday night and it was a a zoo.

As far as the bowl trip. San Diego was beautiful, I would love to go back. However the stadium was an absolute dump, and I was harassed by more homeless people in two days (stayed in the Gas Lamp district)than an entire lifetime spent in New Orleans. This isn't meant to be a knock on the homeless(God love them). I have spent my entire life around the cityof New Orleans on the south shore and the north shore. MY parents live in Mandeville, my sister is in Lakeview. Knock on wood nobody has ever been robbed, burglarized, mugged, raped, or murdered.

In Fact the only time I was burglarized was in RUSTON. Twice and in different places. House once and car the other time. That doesn't mean Ruston is a bad place, that's just unfortunately society today. Its a bad world we live in and all cities have problems.

Thank you. I'm a block away from St Charles so I'll hop on that line. That's for the assistance

Parasol's is a great little spot in uptown. Camellia grill is an experience...just a neat little diner. For NOLA fare in a relaxed atmosphere, Mandina's is great (get the eggplant sticks as an appatizer).

You have to go to Willa Jean on the corner of O'keefe Ave and Girod St......really cool atmosphere, great food, and great service! Go to Cellar door a block over for drinks in the courtyard or the fireplace room.

Was going to bowl then couldn't go. Now my 12 year old son and I can go again. Can get tickets on the 20 but before buying those wanted to check and see if anyone had extra tickets in the middle sections that I could buy. Only need two. Only seats left in middle per Tech ticket office are row 1 in section 142. Sounds like we will have a good crowd.

Dave Grohl and The Foo Fighters did one of their "Sonic Highway" HBO Special shows from there last year. WOW! They honored the great history of New Orleans music and musicians. Awesome place!

Nothing like the constant smell of puke and urine with the opportunity to be mugged around every corner.

That's pre-Katrina. You must be talking about downtown Shreveport, Bossier or Baton Rouge.

Looks like i won't be going which brings up a larger issue. I don't usually call for people to be fired unless they totally screw up. Who ever is in charge of marketing and getting students interested for games needs to be let go. Beyond piss poor job, almost like they aren't even trying or doing anything at all.

They claim to have sold more student tickets for NOLA than Dallas.

That's easy. Students either live there, have family there, or it's close. Those aren't bad reasons, but I would expect a better student turnout just because of those factors.
