Yes, he was probably 4th or 5th on OSU's wish list of QB prospects and he was #1 on Tech's. Now we'll have to drop lower on our wish list. I hope we've stayed in contact with them.

I'm not saying Tech is completely out of the running. However, I thinks it's far more probable that he takes one of the P5 offers, especially after he tours the P5 facilities.

If it is proven true that Wuptee has decommited, then you drop to about a ten percent likelihood that he'll ever play in your program. If a kid is curious and just wants to feel out the offers, more often than not, they will maintain their commitment and just go on the OVs. That way, there's no chance that Tech would give away his scholarship to another prospect. By decommitting, Wuptee would be honoring your two year relationship, by signalling that he is leaving for sure, and that you can immediately begin the search for a new prospect.

Using your logic, I guess you'll have to convince some kid to "fall" into La Tech, having lost the guy you really want.

I see no reason why he wouldn't de-commit with two P5 offers on the table unless he is legitimately torn between the schools.

Our sources are saying Wudtee has decommitted from LTU. FWIW...this source has a bit of a history of jumping the shark.

However, now that TCU has lost their top QB commit, and are showing an interest in Wudtee, I think it's pretty safe to say he'll be moving on. Unfortunately for us, I think TCU will have the inside track, given that their path to the starting position is clearer with Trevone Boykin graduating. Our starter, Mason Rudolph, is pretty much set for two more seasons, unless he's injured or goes pro after next season.

I'm imagining TCU will be selling Boykin's similarity to Boykin, as their key arrow in their quiver.

My guess is he'll never make it to his OV at Tech.

....and THAT was my point. Anything in life is about risk vs reward. There's a lot of former great HS QB's that never played a down of college football because they chose to go play for a college that recruited a lot of other great HS QB's too.

In fourteen games, he has passed for 4,444 yards on 295 completions, on 470 attempts (61.6%) for 27 TD, 13 INTs (four in his first three games as a true Freshman), giving him a career passer rating of 152.7. This Spring will be his 3rd in the program, as he was an early enrollee, and he has three years to play two.

If Wudtee is looking to start next Fall, it's not going to happen at OSU. We generally try to redshirt all of our QBs.

That may be your saving grace.

He will, however, only be one of three QBs on scholarship in Stillwater.

He probably wouldn't start at Tech either. We had our experience with a freshman QB who wasn't even 18 when he made his first start. He didn't work out. Then got all pouty and transferred to a P5 school but didn't work out there either. BTW I count four returning QB's on the Tech Squad (Kamal Brown, Ryan Higgins, J'mar Smith and Price Wilson). Don't know how many have scholarships. The Brown kid I never heard of. The others are at least known.
