No, I didn't think you would approve of limiting voting based along those lines. I assumed you meant education level, passing a test, or something similar, but I may have been off base. I am curious though--how would you limit voting, if you could decide?
Controlling who votes may be easier than persuading voters to change their minds, but like practically every other issue, our country probably is too divided to reach an accord about it.

You have to pay taxes to vote. Is that fair? Probably not, but we are getting to the point where non-tax payers outnumber tax payers. Of course they are going to vote themselves money.
I mean it by earned. The few thoughts I have put on it is honorable military service of any length of time; 5-years in Peace Corps; 5-years of federal government service; no one younger than 25; probably some test of understanding and knowledge. There are people much smarter than me that can come up with better ways.
I have zero problem with there being a division. As you know, I'm not exactly ultra-one-way-or-another with left and right. But the division needs to be less on emotion ("I feel") and more on fact ("I know").

If you can't read and write english, don't pay taxes and don't own property you shouldn't be allowed to vote. Period!
And yes I would go back to those items as a measuring stick on voting in our country in a heartbeat!

Only illegals that pay tax are identity theives. Most are paid cash under the table and since food and rent are not subject to sales tax, they pay no tax. So the argument that illegals pay taxes is a lie. The costs to the states far out way any indirect taxes collected. Having to have services in multiple languages, school for illegals children, the fraud in food stamps and section 8 housing. Anyone arguing that illegals are anything but a huge burden are lying. They need to go home and we should only let in immigrants that are a benefit to the USA. No more HB1 either unless it can be confirmed that no american can do the job.
I can most readily assure you, food is taxed.

Jbru go to a grocery store and by some food, there is no tax in any state. Please tell me how food is taxed? Yes, if you eat out, it's taxable but that's a choice. I work on state and local tax issues for a living. Illegals do not pay taxes unless the use someone's SS number to get paid for a job, which is a felony.
The costs of illegals are 50 to 100 times any ancillary taxes that a illegal pays. Even in Louisiana with a low illegal population, the costs of illegals are billions of dollars for health care, schooling, multi-language compliance.
Illegals need to be sent home or if made legal, the usa will be a third world nations within 20 years.

Yes, I am guilty of wanting to stir the pot. The Republican Party has a lot of nasty crust building up around the edges of that pot and is corrupting the whole brew. It needs a good stirring. The batch that is cooking in that pot can't even prodice a palatable, much less tasty nominee. I really am voting for Gary Johnson.
And, yes, freedom does produce what appears to be a moving target. That is why D.C. hates freedom (libertarians defining attribute) so much. Freedom looks like kaos to the people trying to hold on to power. They don't like that moving target and it drives them crazy. "Them"includes the Republican Party. They like power and power is easier to keep if it is centralized.
It's time to close the doors to the Temple of Janus.
