The other day, I was at WM Academy to get 14YO a mouthpiece. . . .
There was a group of supervisor types and employees (about 8) discussing a display. I noticed a break in the discussion and took my chance:
"Is there a store manager amongst you guys who I can talk to for a second?"
The store manager stepped up and so did the DISTRICT manager.
"I would like to give you guys some information. If I were the manager of this store I'd want to know this information, so I'd like to share it with you.
"Louisiana Tech signed an agreement with adidas, effective July 1, to wear their apparel exclusively. Up front at your collegiate display there is some Tech stuff, but no adidas. (Store manager writes down in notebook).
"In the Monroe and Shreveport paper today, there is a quote saying the second highest earning diplomas in the state of Louisiana comes from Tech, a little bit behind LSU.
"What that article says to me is: Louisiana Tech grads have money to spend . . . at this store. (Mgr writes down some more.)
"Now, last year, 4th quarter, you stocked this store with a duplicate order of apparel for Tech and ULM. By Thanksgiving, 90 percent of the Tech stuff was sold out. Not impressive at all was the remaining ULM stuff. You guys need to tell your buyers to send you more Tech stuff. I would say it's a guarantee it would be sold, but last year's example should be enough proof.
District manager answers:
"We're going to check into it, but we might be too late to get adidas stuff for this season. Spring for sure. This is good information. Thanks."
Maybe they listened and will take action (before they leave their job or get transferred).
