Holtz was not pulling Smith unless injured. Smith played well enough to win and one bad throw doesn't cause Holtz to pull Smith. All you have to do is look at Holtz with Cody in Marshall. If Smith was playing bad, we would have seen Higgns but Smith finishing the game says a lot about what Holtz thinks of Smith.

That dog won't hunt. If we have someone who can open up the playbook and we're up on an SEC team at their place, you put him in!

Smith was adequate and he gave us chances to win along with the defense. Since he is only a red shirt freshman he will grow over the years. We'll see if Higgins has grown. Remember Skip was punishing Higgins. If Smith had not been adequate we would have seen Higgins.

Where's Herm Edwards when you need him? Adequate? If Higgins is superior, he should've played...period.

So what if he had killed someone while drunk? You would still play him if he were superior?

I think you do too. But if J'Mar Smith can't connect on that deep ball going forward, I'd go to Ryan Higgins in a heartbeat.

I'm really tired of seeing LA Tech QB's continuously OVERTHROW the deep ball when our receivers are 3-4 yards behind the opposing DB's. That's just a missed opportunity. Driskel overthrew his receivers on the deep ball all year last year, and J'Mar did it yesterday.

Some posts are too silly to warrant a response.

Higgins paid his penalty by not starting. Once that was done, the better guy should play. If that's Higgins, he should've played.

His staying on the bench tells me all I need to know about who should start next week.

J'Mar was not perfect today, folks. He had several overthrows, including the overthrow on the post pattern that would have been an easy TD for the Dawgs. He also had an interception --because he threw into double coverage-- and he engineered FAR TOO MANY three and outs. Oh....and he did not get the win, which is what a QB is supposed to do.

Some of you nutty fans act like J'Mar was perfect today. He was far from it. He was "okay", and he stayed away from the major mistakes. But J'Mar was NOT great. IMO, he did earn another start, but he better cut done on the overthrows, and NO MORE throws into double coverage.

You are talking about HCSH, who after dominating Miss St in the first half last year changed the game plan at the half. Point: Just accept HCSH, don't try to get up in his head.

HCSH has been very, very clear in the media. Higgins wouldn't start at Arkansas and he would not make a mockery of this suspension, but Higgins would be and STILL IS our starter for the rest of the season until HCSH decides otherwise. You may not like coach's decision, or his game plan, or his love of FG attempts,... But he has already been clear on his decision as to who the starting QB will be in the next game.

The suspension is 100% over and Ryan Higgins is our starting QB. Sit back, relax, and enjoy what will be our 3rd consecutive outstanding LA Tech football season.

It's posts like yours Johnny, that I have a real problem with. J'Mar only generated 292 yards of total offense yesterday, and people like you are ready to give him the Heisman Trophy.

That was probably LA Tech's worst offensive output in several years. But for some reason you -and others-- came away thinking J'Mar played great. I guess you just want to overlook all the "3 and outs" that led to Arkansas dominating the time of possession.

You're reading something I've not written. I never said great. I never said Heisman. He's not competing against a great Heisman that nails the long ball either.

My point is simple and has been consistent: if Higgins isn't far enough ahead of Smith to come in after the "paltry" performance you cited, then Smith is our best option and he should start at SCSU and TT.

That's a silly denouement. Let's be clear.....Smith was as one poster cited, "adequate" yesterday. Actually, I personally think he was better than adequate, but he just didn't generate enough offense to beat anyone, much less an SEC team. But J'Mar probably complicated things by playing better in the 1st half (engineered 2 TD's) than he did in the 2nd (0 TD's). Holtz would have looked silly pulling J'Mar in favor of Higgins to start the 3rd qtr, in light of how well J'Mar had played up to that point, and with the game tied. Now.....not so much.
