So, as I said, Cruz won the senate seat because of the Tea Party, Sarah Palin's endorsement, i.e. the "conservative" portion of the Repub party. And, if he hopes to be reelected, he has to stay on their good side. Because they are supporting Trump!
i just think it's time we stop calling it conservative. it no longer fits the definition. same goes for "liberal".

Subject: Fw: The Old Cow --

Late one evening, while the campaign motorcade proceeded down a lonely rural road in west Texas, a very

aged cow that had wandered away from its farm pasture suddenly stepped onto the road directly in the path of the oncoming vehicles.

The Secret Service limo driver tried to avoid the aging bovine but just couldn't stop the car in time. Unfortunately,

the old cow was struck and killed.

From the back seat of the limo, Hillary Clinton demanded that her driver

to go up to the nearby farmhouse and explain to the owners what had happened.

She insisted, however, that the agent should resist any request from the farmer to pay

for the animal, and she added, "You killed it, so if they demand money,

it will come out of your own pocket!"

Meanwhile, Hillary stayed in the car making phone calls on her unsecured cell phone.

About an hour later the driver staggered back to the car with his clothes in disarray.

He was holding a half-empty bottle of expensive wine in one hand, a huge

Cuban cigar in the other, and was smiling happily, smeared with lipstick.

"What happened to you?" asked Hillary.

"Well," the driver replied, "the farmer gave me the cigar, his wife gave me the wine,

and their beautiful twin daughters made passionate love to me.

"I had just stepped inside the door and said, ‘I'm Hillary Clinton's driver and I've just killed the old cow.’"

"The rest happened so fast I couldn't stop it."

I watched it because my adult children wanted to watch it.

Because I despise both candidates equally, for once I could relate to what an undecided voter feels like.

Clinton won that debate hands down. Wait, better put ... Trump lost that debate hands down.

That said, post-debate I just despise both candidates all the more. Neither will get my vote.

Unfortunately I watched bits and pieces of the "debate." I didn't learn anything new except maybe the reason I'm quickly becoming disassociated with American politics.

This seems to be the mantra. Why "quickly" becoming disassociated? If this race bothers you, how did you stomach the last two that Obama won?

Trump is NOT a politician. That is not a bad thing.

No doubt. Trump is NOT a conservative. That IS a bad thing.

Beyond that, if he's a smart guy (and I certainly think he is), he would begin to get out of his own way. I spelled out how I thought he could do that. He can't do it. It's who he is.

By our definition of conservative, none of the others were either.

Maybe not, but they were passable.

I need to correct something...I said it's who he is. I think it's who he's been paid to be.

Rush predicted a while back that we'd be encouraged to put forth a moderate and that it would be the worst thing we could do. Politically, that's what we've done. And Rush and Hannity have been carrying water for him since day one. If he loses, they're at fault. If he wins and institutes big government solutions, they're at fault.

I disagree. This will sound stupid, but I think moderate Republicans created Trump, and they are at fault... the Lindsey Grahams, John McCains, John Boehners... the votes went to non-establishment Cruz, and non-politician at all Trump. It was an anger vote. But the problem is Trump is the same type of idealogue as the moderate Republicans they were protesting. They couldn't see clearly past the hate for the politicians. Make America great was as powerful as hope and change. He's our Obama, who was the result of hatred of GWB.
