Great point. If Greeks make up 10% of students but 40% of the student section... Shouldn't we thank them???
Sadly, yes. It hurts my soul when I see guys I played with decked out in purple and yellow at a LSU home game.
It's one thing to go to the occasional random college football game at other places with friends or family. As a fan of college football, it's fun to experience other places now and then. I've been to an Arkansas game with my stepdad who is a huge Hog fan, for example. I may occasionally go to a USM or Ole Miss game with friends if I am in the area and not going to a Tech game. But to basically become a regular 'ol fan of LSU of all places, I just don't get it.
Is it the mentality of "I was born and raised LSU" which I hear a lot of?
Names? I'd love to know who the real traitors are.
No idea really. I'm sure that's some of it. Some probably live in or near BR, so it's just what is easy and convenient. Some may have family in school there. Who knows? I guess if you lived in BR and all your friends and family were spending their Saturdays tailgating at Tiger Stadium and throwing empty beer bottles at innocent passers by, you would be more likely to join in.
I don't want to get my friends in trouble, but this is one who admitted it, so he's on his own.

Coach Glenn Hunt: I grew up in Duncanville, TX and attended Duncanville HS. Graduated in 1987.
Ole Rebels: Where did you go to college?
Coach Hunt: I went to LA Tech between 87-91. Played offensive line along side Saints and future NFL Hall of Famer Willie Roaf. I made first team all-state my senior year and second team All Independent.
Ole Rebels:What are your Hobbies outside of football?
Coach Hunt: I love golf and watching LSU athletics.
It is more insidious than that. In BR you are pounded on a daily basis by LSU propaganda from every media source. And they start in the crib with the programming. But the Dawgs down keep trying to chip away a little at a time.
For every 1 former athlete that supports lsu ahead of their alma mater, there are 50 or more that don't. And I'll go to war with those 50 all day long.
It's everywhere in Louisiana. Every single small town, village, or city...LSU everywhere. I've seen people with no connection cheer for LSU. I've seen kids indoctrinated into purple and gold from early on from parents who have never set foot on a college campus or worse from parents who went to other state colleges. I've seen elementary schools send home purple folders with LSU on them. Elementary schools that hang up LSU posters in the hallways. Teachers talk about LSU. Coaches praise LSU. It is enough to remind me of the movie They Live.
OBEY LSU!
And with Solomon Randle's new position, you are about to see an influx of former Tech athletes into the program like never before.
Praise the Lord for this. Go get em Solomon!
I think the way he handled the recognition of the WAC Champ teams a few weeks ago cemented this promotion for him. If I was told correctly, that was all his idea and execution. I know when I called him early in the day on game day, he was showing them all around DAC. Solomon is an asset to the University and I wish him well in his position. In other news, I'm looking for a new contact in the ticket office... I was told Emily is the next best person to talk to in the Aspire office. I have always hated dealing with our people in the Ticket Office. The Aspire Group people are much better to work with in my opinion.
