The P5 teams can pay special teams coaches more than we can pay a defensive coordinator. I don't see us hiring any DC with a recognizable name.
We need to have a meeting with Holtz right after the bowl game.
"Coach, I'm sorry, but we can't offer you a raise this year. The raise we were going to offer you is being diverted to cover the cost of a defensive coordinator. We figure 2 seasons is long enough to have been without one."
I'm not saying we could pull it off, but if Skip isn't making phone calls to prospective DCs then we have a serious problem.
It's also ultimately Holtz and Bakers responsibility to keep their players eligible. Two championships minus significant starters because of academics is pathetic.
This is hard to watch!
I think Holtz could spin a great enough narrative to get Strong or any recognizable name here if Holtz really wanted to.
