Yes, they had to bid the project, and have bid, won, and completed multiple previous projects, so they have to be excellent bidders (i.e. low and accurate).

Anyone remember the "dominant" contractor back in the 60's. (Was from Farmerville. Had a son in the class of 65 Rannie Terrall, as I recall??

Shabby memory says they built maybe Mitchell, "new" Harper???

Whatever happened to TL James? Used to see their signs for building roads, bridge, etc here in Houston. Seems like Ruston football stadium named after them. I believe I had a speech teacher who was a daughter.

If memory serves TL James got in a big bind back in the mid '80s/early 90's and haven't been in the construction business since. I don't think they totally disappeared and are more of an investment entity these days.

Others probably have a lot better info. My memory isn't what it used to be.

TL James sold its construction division to Angello Iafrate Construction of Detroit, MI in the late nineties. Iafrate renamed the company James Construction Group (JCG) and moved its home office to Baton Rouge. JCG's president is Mike Kilgore, a Tech engineering graduate, and many Tech grads still work for the company.

Five years ago the company was acquired by Primoris Service Company (PSC). The company still operates under the JCG name today, but it is as a wholly owned subsidiary of Primoris.

The JPS family of companies are the heirs, literally and figuratively, of the TL James brand.

Many other heirs of TL James operate their own businesses today. JB James Construction Company is owned by Jeff James, who's also an heir of TL James. His company is based in Baton Rouge and does highway construction work all over Louisiana. I'd say it's Jeff's company that most resembles the old TL James Construction Company.

I think Terral also built the football stadium. I think they had an employee fall during construction of press box and died

The 3rd generation decided they wanted theirs in the 1980s and voted to sell the company. (I broke the story in the Ruston Daily Leader. Mr. G.W. "Billy" James called me down to his office to give the details.)

As quoted above, those family members in the 3rd generation became millionaire owners of their own interests: construction, real estate, forestry and, yes, the JPS companies are just one of the members of the family's 3rd generation.

Okay . . . back to the thread at hand.

Here's how the "road" is affected. . . as if the road is a part of GameDay.
