As long as we can manage to take 2 of 3 here on out, I think we are fine heading into the CUSA Tourney - of course we would need 2 wins there to remove any worry
I find it interesting he has the Funbelt as a one bid league as of today and he has the Cajuns winning their conference tourney for the slot over USA, Coastal and UTA....

Our 41 to 44 was a swap with Tennessee who was 44 to 41. Tennessee is barely above .500 and a losing record in the SEC, but they play against some good baseball teams while the Sunbelt has been its own worst enemy this year.

Burroughs refusal to add a couple midweek games these last couple weeks may go down as one of the dumbest decisions in Tech baseball history.
Tech will have to win at least 7 games to stay Top 45 heading into the C-USA Tourney. I think we need to be better than Top 40 because ODU will be our only Top 50 series win. That means we need to win 8 or 9 out of our final 10 to be in good position heading to Biloxi.
We may need to be better than top 40, but you have not mentioned wins over McNeese, Arkansas, and Miss. State. Like last year, those quality wins still matter. Sweeping Lafayette would help too. The Rice sweep put us over the top last year. Obviously the Rice series win in Houston was not as big for us this year.
I'm not seeing a way for us to be below 40 headed to Biloxi like we were last year headed to Hattiesburg (37)

Arkansas -- midweek split in Ruston
Miss. State -- 1 road midweek win
Midweeks matter, but weekend series carry more weight to the committee.
The bottomline is the experts at D1Baseball and Baseball America still say we are OUT with our current resume with those wins you mentioned.
At Laffy midweek is our only chance for a boost heading into Biloxi, and that one game won't be enough to put us over the top like last year's Rice series.
We can get Top 40 by winning 9 of last 10, which is what we need to do.
Just winning 2/3 from here on out won't be enough.
Our chances are good if our coach(es) don't screw up our pitching like they seem to be intent on doing. We got lucky this past Friday.
Sure is a lot of doom and gloom speculation going on. It's unfortunate we can't simply enjoy an uptick in Tech baseball compared to real downtroddeness of what it was just a couple of years ago.

No doom and gloom here. None of us should enjoy bad decisions by our coaches just as we didn't when we had the horrible coach for 12 years.

The failure to schedule some midweek games is stupid. The management of our pitching staff is pathetic.

I'm just upset Burroughs didn't do everything he could to help us earn an at-large bid when we are sitting on the wrong side of the bubble with little opportunity to improve our situation with our current schedule. You could see this coming a mile away, but I guess he's counting on us getting a bid by the hair of our chinny chin chin. I definitely think we are capable of winning 9 of 10, but it won't be easy. Not giving our guys a couple more chances for good wins will put a lot more pressure on our team to win a few games in the C-USA Tourney. It would be a momentum killer for our program if we don't make the NCAA Tourney this year when we were set up for so much success coming off last year's breakthrough. I want us to be a perennial tourney team, not a 1-hit wonder.
I recall you mentioning on another thread that some schools added late-season games last year to increase their RPI. Didn't you say USM and Louisiana-Lafayette did? I don't think of this as common practice, but you typically do your homework, so you're probably right.
IIRC ULL added a game late with Houston, and USM canceled a game with ULM/SWAC to protect their RPI.
Burroughs originally said he would try to find a replacement game for Arky State but never did. 2-3 weeks ago on the coach's show he said he didn't feel like we needed to add any games, that he was comfortable with what we've done, just needed to focus on C-USA games like you said, or something to that effect. I just don't see how any coach could be comfortable on the bubble. As a fan, I sure know I'm not.

Admittedly I get a little annoyed at those who insist "we should just be happy about blah, blah, blah..." Why? Why do we have to JUST be happy? Can't we be happy Tech is doing okay, but want even more at the same time? Sure, these past two years have been light years ahead of where Sim had us languishing. But, winners in life don't compare themselves to losers and be satisfied they are doing better than them. Winners compare themselves to those above them on the ladder of success and insist on moving up!
