OK PD, when someone calls the ticket office how can they tell if they are Tech fans unless they say outright. If they say "we're Mississippi State fans" I guess the telephone operator can then direct them to non prime seats. But if it's computer there is no way to tell (well practically, but our ticket office probably hasn't got that level of technology). You see it all the time on network games. One or two lone fans from the opposite team scattered in the home team section. And remember a lot of "our" staff are not Tech grads and their job is to sell tickets. Years ago I talked to an Ohio State grad. This might need to be addressed.

One remedy could be to ask the opposing team to request more tickets when they sell their first block. Of course this would be admitting that we can't sell out. I believe the rule used to be that you only had to provide 1000 tickets for the visiting team to sell. This may or may not have been true.

That's not the discussion. They did not block off tickets for our own ticket office to sell. Period. The allowed them to go on the open market. That's fine for certain areas, but why would you allow some of your best seating to be out there for anybody to get?

The start of this thread is a prime example. A Tech fan has better ticket options if he goes to the visiting teams site. It's like they punish Tech fans for waiting until two weeks out to purchase.

I'd assume that if you're calling the Louisiana Tech Ticket office, then you are a fan of Louisiana Tech, until you say otherwise. I'd assume fans of the opposing team would call the respective ticket office of that team

I agree with PD's premise, it would be more intelligent to block off seats for Tech fans

I think that most of you don't realize what Stubhub is. These are basically individuals who are reselling already purchased seats (Tech fans, Mississippi State fans, or someone trying to make a buck). If you go to the Mississippi State webpage, they are selling $25 reserved seats out of their allotment, which I am sure is the usual areas.

I went back and read the first post. No where does he say that he had any better options by going to the visiting team's site. He just said it was a problem getting six tickets together on the west side. He didn't say he went (or could go) to the visiting team's site and get his six ticket. You or somebody else said that.

I say with our fickle fan base our ticket office has to sell to whoever calls. That's our problem. Don't blame the ticket office. They can't sell "prime" seats to Tech fans who don't call and ask for them. If they block out seats those seats might be empty for lack of takers. When we sell out every game to Tech fans and have to send the required minimum to the opposing teams, then we can complain.

50 yard line seats on student side available right now-- we are not going to fill the stands with Tech Supporters -- we talking 15- 40 $ tickets --why "block off" --either you go or you don't. I still remember Southern fans jammed into 50 yard line who got their ticketDAY OF GAME .. I hope one day we can build fan base to buying season tickets for every game for less than 200 bucks ... intelligent, in my opinion, is selling every seat in the stadium, not having them blocked off and empty

Talked to ticket office. She told me the "primary area" for visiting fans would be K,L and KK. I called and got better seats, but she did tell me that all but 1 section on the westside were SOLD OUT (bottom half of westside). She also stated that BB and HH were the only ones that we only 50% full. I was told that CC - GG was sold out. She said it seems like we might have a sell out on our hands. She stated it has outpaced the NSU sales...so far.

That's where my season tickets are supposed to be. Hopefully I don't have too much trouble with others squatting

Our stadium is currently smaller than it has been since the 1980s. We SHOULD sell out NSU and Miss St games. This is no big surprise.

Yes, I understand what stubhub does. I also understand they don't do it if we block premium seating off like most every other school does. If we allowed Miss State allotments on our 50 yard line we are even dumber than I thought.

Good grief man! He said he called our ticket office and was told it was going to be difficult to get 6 tickets together on the west side. I went to the Miss St side and proved that that was total BS. He called Tech. He asked Tech. They told him no. Yet Miss State had the tickets available. You don't see the problem here?
