I thought we were playing the false dichotomy game.

You’re a conservative right? That means you understand that resources are limited. You’re a Tech guy, which means you’re sharper than the average citizen.

Given those facts, let me pose a question:

Where does your anti-rape initiative money go further?

A. Citizens
B. Undocumented Immigrants
C. BA Wall along the Mexican Border.

To stop it? If we figured that out, we’d be the first.

My main point is that violent crime reduction is not a sufficient reason to build a wall. This is obvious if you think about it, but right leaning media continues to paint undocumented immigrants as violent criminals in an effort to justify the wall.

I don’t necessarily oppose a wall, but as a fiscal conservative, it’s WAY down on my priority list.

Most of the walls in our lives are virtual. You want a wall that will accomplish significant improvements to our immigration policy? They’ll be virtual...provided this is actually about the rule of law.

I have yet to hear anyone actually say they are against immigration. Some fringe group may have said it, but I didn't hear it.

Illegal immigration is not like legal immigration. Illegal immigrants live in the shadows, drive down wages because they are willing to work for virtually nothing, pay no taxes (many work under the table for cash), and if they do pay payroll taxes it is from an identity (SSN) they have stolen to give the illusion they are legally here.

The only people I have heard speaking about immigrants in terms of race are the democrats. This rhetoric means the issue will not get solved and will likely never be solved. The same democrats that were saying illegal immigration was wrong are now for open borders (supposedly...but I don't think most of them have a soul). It's just a political issue now.

There are so many ways to fix the system to bring more immigrants here, and to pay them a livable wage when they do. Unfortunately that is not what either the repubs or dems want. They live on human misery.

I did not say they were imperiling my SS. I said we need more "A" folks here to fund my SS with their payroll taxes.

"B" folks live in the shadows. Need more A and less B. Need some sort of "temp to perm" immigration system where guest workers can register to become citizens, and within a certain amount of time (say, 7 to 10 years) if they have maintained employment and not gotten into trouble with the law they can convert their guest worker status into citizenship. During that time, they should not be eligible for any government assistance.

This way, they get to spend the time they are waiting to become citizens actually getting assimilated and making the USA better (and paying taxes).

I would not offer that to people already here, however. Coming in illegally is getting into trouble with the law. If they have not been caught, they can run back to where they came from and apply.

Oh no, I’ve heard all about that. American citizens are the MS13 type at a higher rate than the immigrants in question.
