I never disagreed with the "study" (although I probably do).

I disagreed with the liberal wording of our fellow Tech fan. We DO NOT have 45 million hungry Americans. There was nothing to engage in. No "point" to be debated.

Don't dole out opinions with heart tugging phrases "starving people" or "more family members die because guns are in the home" w/out providing real statistics to back them up. I could probably work an illegal alien child in this somewhere, but we'll save that for later.

I usually try to qualify my opinions by typing IMO.

But you will find a way to dismiss these facts as they don’t support what you prefer to believe.

Nobody who has ever shopped in a grocery store (paying cash) believes that 45 million people in America are hungry. Nobody who has gone to any chain or most any local restaurant believes it either. Almost every one of these spots takes WIC EBT Cards. You have to be one of those 45 million to qualify not to be "hungry".

Read what you posted. It does not say they are hungry, it says they qualify for assistance.

“An estimated 12.3 percent of American households were food insecure at least some time during the year in 2016, meaning they lacked access to enough food for an active, healthy life for all household members. That is essentially unchanged from 12.7 percent in 2015. The prevalence of very low food security also essentially unchanged, at 4.9 percent in 2016 and 5.0 percent in 2015.”

How long is “some time”? A day, 2 days, a week, a month? I would like to know how many people in the U.S. go without food long enough that they actually starve to death. I’m not saying there aren’t people who go hungry for long stretches. How many people would equate their existence in the states with the plight of people in3rd world Africa?

Venezuela death rate from malnutrition is 1.93 per 100k and US is 0.64 per 100k (which almost the same as China at 0.68 per 100k).

Yet a large portion of that 12.3 percent of American households manages to prevent themselves from ever becoming Marlboro, Budweiser, Ripple, weed, or crack cocaine insecure. By your own admission, the food stamp program is a FAILURE. It has been abused and mismanaged for years, just like every other welfare program liberals want to force down our throats.

Welfare is just another name for socialism, and it never, ever works. What works is teaching young people that they have to get off their asses and go to work to improve whatever situation life has thrown at them. Life isn’t fair, and it isn’t always easy, but everyone in America has the opportunity to improve his lot in life if only he himself decides to. I see it happening every single day, just not with people that sit down and expect to be taken care of by the state. Those people will always live the life of paupers. It’s what they CHOOSE.

There are more jobs than unemployed people in America. Companies have lowered and even dropped prerequisites for employment. Yes, it's true, for some, the jobs that make the most sense for them might be elsewhere, like in another state, but heck! Jed Clampett loaded up his family and moved from Arkansas to California. There are no valid excuses for ANY American household to be without the basics of life. If they are it's because of their own doing. And even if goosey, johnnylightning, jubru, champ(s), and any other libtards 'round here pooled their vast resources and helped some of these families, those in that situation by their own doing, would be back in that situation just as soon as the BB&B Relief Fund was emptied.

Oprah Winfrey tried it in Chicago. In what proved to be her "Geraldo moment" she was greatly embarrassed by the results. Later Oprah, in a very non-libtard admission, one rooted in reality, publicly stated: people have to care about their own situation and no amount of aid, charity, good intentions can lift some out of poverty. I suppose, since Oprah (her company) produced that series, it'll never be released again....was probably destroyed. But, if possible, it should be shown again, just like it was then....some 15-20 years ago, whatever it's been. A real eye-opener! (for some, the rest of us already knew that TRUTH).

Are you saying that the unemployed are qualified to do the jobs that are available?

I am saying there are plenty of jobs to go around, and companies have relaxed their standards. They need warm bodies! and are willing to provide "on the job training."

Are YOU saying there are no unemployed people qualified to do these jobs? What, are they just stupid, or something?

    Re: President Trump

Speaking of President Trump.....just to try to bring this thread back in line a little. His old nemesis, Fat mouth Rosie O'Donnell has committed campaign contribution violations. Not that anything will come of it....she's a libtard, so any laws broken are automatically forgiven. Gotta love her response...

Not my fault, the candidates should have kept what was legal and just returned the rest to me. Fat girl donated over $90,000 to democraps last year, the vast majority of which exceeded the limits. Oh, was this just an innocent mistake by O'Donnell? Nope! she purposely used FIVE separate variations on her name, and FIVE different addresses, to try to cover up the illegal contributions. Lousy job of a cover-up....shows how stupid she is. And now, she is blaming the democrap politicians saying they shoulda known better, and returned those portions above the limit.

Of course, you won't hear a peep about this on those Fake News outlets, except maybe an attempt to apologize on her behalf, and try to make this go away quickly.

I keep hearing we need open borders because "there are jobs Americans won't do".

Looking back at my ancestors, I see hundreds of folks related to me that did those jobs....even left their families, traveled thousands of miles and lived in squalid conditions just to get those jobs. I suppose this is where "white privilege" was born!

Aren't those jobs still available, too? Or have we brought in enough foreigners to do those? Those families that come in legally and do these jobs will soon run this country, because they understand the value of work. Those families on government assistance now will still be on government assistance when these folks are running things.

H1-b visa workers and those that do the low skill manual labor work that Americans won’t do are two different groups.
