Yes because only people who truly care about their children would have turned down asylum 3000 miles ago to illegally storm the US border with picture op kids in tow.

70% of illegals are on welfare.

They come here to work, we are told. They come here seeking economic opportunity, we are told.

Qualified immigrants can be eligible. The list includes refugees, asylees, Cuban/Haitian entrants, and others.

    Right, so “not illegals.”

    semantics...

You mean all those "asylees" are not actually seeking asylum? I get it though, since they are "legal" it's okay for them to go directly on welfare.

Obviously collecting a government check is a job Americans are not willing to do. Isn't this what we are told?

You are conflating two separate classes of immigrants.

Asylees that are “qualified” and are eligible for welfare are fleeing persecution (they may or may not also be looking for better economic opportunity). Illegal immigrants that just come here for better opportunity (and thus not “qualified”) is what Dawg80 appeared to be referring to in his quote. That is why I asked for him to explain what he meant.

CNN or MSNBC could not have said it better. It's really all about the children.

The study that I saw listed them as non-citizens vs citizens without regard to immigration. 63% of non-citizens were receiving benefits versus 35% for citizens. I think it was done on a household basis.

It's a problem, but it's a separate (but related) issue to illegal immigration.

There has to be more nuance to that. Do you have a link? Because that's got to be leaving out big swathes of non-citizens to be that high (it'd make sense for a particular category like asylees or something like that maybe).
