Your right I was told differently, just looked it up and it said illicit drugs. Wonder how that will stand now that we have states where weed is legal?

No, not at all. I don't think HD thinks that either.
The rules are what they are. The NCAA sets the rules not Tech Academia. When they failed the 2nd test they were done. It is the athletic council's responsibility to make sure the rules are enforced. IMO, it should have been decided and finalized by our AD. Reckon why he didn't enforce the rules? Easier to pass the buck I'm guessing. Then his lemmings can blame the athletic council for conspiring against the players. We actually have long time employees who spread this BS and should be fired for doing it.

What I’ve read is NCAA does not set the rules. Each institution sets there own rules. However, if the institution doesn’t follow their own rules, it’s an NCAA violation.

Exactly and Tech just had to give him those 2 particular games for suspension. The idiots!!!
So now TECH also punished the entire fan base and alumni. Not to mention the great pub. and upside the program and university just lost. Yes, I'm still PO'd.

Maybe it sets an example for guys in our program in the future. You will not sit out for meaningless games only if you are suspended, but possibly games they will potentially cost your team dearly. I actually like that better. Suspension should mean something. It should cost the young man something.
Wouldn't have happened on my watch. THAT'S the difference. And before you poo poo that, make sure you understand that I would have never had J'Mar Smith as a 3-yr starter for my team at LA Tech in the first place. He would have likely been shipped out long ago. And he would have certainly split some playing time with other developing QB's. I would have NEVER put myself and my future in J'Mar's hands the way Holtz did so foolishly.
Some of you guys don't think past 1st base. Skip Holtz made his decision long ago, when he canonized J'Mar Smith as his (and our) Rock Star QB of the future. I think it's pretty well established that many of us have expressed reservations about J'Mar BEFORE NOW.
What's really amazing is that Skip Holtz still isn't getting any blowback from our fan base over these suspensions. First, he jammed J'Mar Smith down our throats for 3 solid years, a move that many of us did not support. And now it's all "J'Mar's fault", that Holtz never developed a backup QB.
.....Oh yeah, that attitude makes folks want to go write a big check to LTAC.![]()
It's fine that you want to teach someone a lesson, but how about not doing it at everybody elses' expense? Why should they suffer? With the football program, LA Tech is trying to run a business. And you can't run a business if you are going to screw your stockholders (players, donors, fans and supporters) over every time they get close to a championship.
Skip made two huge mistakes: First, it was a mistake to become dependent on J'Mar --a guy with obvious character flaws-- in the first place. If the rumors of J'Mar failing multiple drug tests are true, the SHAME ON SKIP. He KNEW he had a problem. Skip's other big mistake was in not developing a legitimate backup QB to play in case something like this happened. Skip knew he had a starting QB failing multiple drug tests, yet he didn't bother to develop a backup? Many of us WARNED you and other Tech fans of this shortcoming when Jack Abraham and Price Wilson left Tech. I warned everybody here on BB&B of something just like this could happen if Holtz didn't start developing a backup QB.
So....at the end of the day, this is all on Skip Holtz. Skip is the one who screwed his stockholders, investors, players, fans, supporters, and others.
