To clarify ... are we talking about Muslims? Or posters on this board who advocate for killing Muslims?

I talked to all the libs today at the weekly luncheon, and literally none of them want that for America.

I also told each of libs that conservatives don't actually want to see American become a neo-nazi dictatorship, and that they should stop assuming other people's motives.

I must have missed the posts advocating killing Muslims.

Personally, I couldn't care less about them....unless they are harming Americans or the American culture. As long as they are willing to assimilate into American culture, they can be here and BE PRODUCTIVE without the fear of me jerking their prayer run out from under them, too.

Of course, I think they should be thoroughly vetted before being allowed into the country, as should everyone seeking to enter via a port of entry or border. They need to show a provable desire to fit in.

It's what we did on Ellis Island. I don't think any of this was defined in the constitution. We could just shut the borders if we wanted to do so.

Neither was it in the constitution to lure people here from foreign lands with a welfare state where their health care would be handled by the government and taxpayers and they would be catered to in their native language and fed by taxpayers. We did NOT do those things at Ellis Island.

Generally, I think we're on the same page here. But the extent of "assimilation" required could be open for debate, though.

Agree not to mutilate other people's genitals? Yes.

Must enjoy McRib? Probably less important .

I think that may be less common than some people think.

Do people do that? Yes, probably.
Is it a substantial portion of all immigrants? Probably not.

As an aside, whether something is "in the Constitution" is pretty weak sauce. "Rule of law" isnt in the Constitution either. Nor is "separation of powers" or "checks and balances". Kind of like how "Holy Trinity" and "communion" aren't in the Bible. But just because a magic word or phrase isnt there, doesnt mean the thing or idea isnt there.

Thank the Lord. But unfortunately, their party obviously is pushing for these to have a MUCH higher percentage of happening by their stances being forced on America.

Assimilation means you accept the Constitution and our laws as the foundation for living here....and yes, no mutilating genitals or humping goats or doing honor killings.

I bet someone would win a court case on the genital thing under freedom of religion, though. Heck, if they allow you to KILL your baby I can't see them stopping you from mutilating it.

And I did not bring up the Constitution thing. That weak sauce was proposed by someone else, and I am not a big proponent of the "holy trinity" thing either.

It's hard to imagine erasing it completely. Surely even pockets of Muslims would have remained. But, that's the premise of the book according to the summary.
Holy Moly! almost finished this book. In the 1260's it was a very close thing. The Mongols HATED Muslims, and with good reason as Muslims had murdered several thousand Mongol "civilians" living in what is now Iraq. If not for an untimely death back in Mongolia in 1260...the Great Khan passed away and the Mongol general Hulegu Khan, grandson of Genghis Khan, was compelled to return to participate in the politics of selecting the next Great Khan. But, he had drawn plans to invade Egypt and finish off the Muslims. Said plan he was never able to execute upon his return. He took his 60,000-man personal guard (army) with him. During his 4-month absence the Muslims, now restricted to just Egypt, mustered an army and attacked the remaining Mongols camped in Syria. This set off a renewed active war between the Mongols and Muslims. But the Mongols were still more interested in invading Europe and only dispatched small armies, 15,000 men, to keep the Muslims at bay.

    More later...

Your examples show that it's not weak sauce! The concepts of all your examples are in the constitution and the Bible!
