Was yesterday a good or bad day for CUSA? What’s more important our conference champ stomping a solid AAC team or dropping two games to the Sunbelt?
I tend to think it was a bad day.
My "never" is pretty solid. We need to at least double our budget to be in contention for the AAC.
Dominating our "peers" in C-USA would also be a plus.
That's because schools like Tulane can only stay "above" us, if indeed they are, by being in conferences with better TV deals and better payouts. If we ever got on equal terms in that arena we would blow them away. And they know it.
Meanwhile, CUSA sucks on the field of play. Hopefully we'll do our part to salvage some pride this bowl season.
CUSA usually has 3 or 4 quality teams. FAU destroying SMU without their coach is a quality blowout. UAB hanging with #20 App St like they did is a quality loss (unless App St is overrated, but they are a quality program). Tech, WKU, USM, and Marshall are all at least average teams. FIU beat Miami (but probably Miami's WTF game), but had a disappointing season. Charlotte is not impressive, but they are a new program. I don't think these programs "suck." Not great, but not sucky either.
