Looking at next year's prospects 3 of the top 25 have us as a High Choice & another 3 are interested
I've said before that I find the recruitment of high school athletes a rather unseemly business. And also that high school performance is often an unreliable predictor of college success. I'd be more interested whether there's any correlation between lsu's win percentage and Tech's.
So if lsu winning more football games means Tech gets more 3+ star recruits .... meh, so what?
But if lsu winning more football games corresponds to Tech winning more football games ... I'm not gonna become a chigger fan, but you might could convince me to be neutral.
We should never cheer for our peers like LaLaff to beat lsu in any sport. I've had this discussion with many Tech fans who just don't understand the damage that could do.
Just an observation, but it's been a long season for both Clemson and the poosters. Just think, they started fall practice back in August, both have played 14 games, and the last two have had extended breaks between them, 3 weeks and now 2 weeks+. Lots of practice time along the way. Having to stay in focus the whole time and remain in "football mode" has to be grueling.
Oh wait....the same can be said about North Dakota State and JMU!
Never mind...
Y'all are looking at this as what impact this has on Tech FOOTBALL...oh, we can get better recruits, etc. I am looking at it from an overall "TECH" impact. How does an LSU victory help TECH at a University level? IT DOESN'T. NOT ONE BIT.
As we've seen at LSU/BR, Alabama, Boise State (after the famous Fiesta Bowl win over Oklahoma), and other schools who've done well at football, there is an uptick to their enrollment numbers. After all, the "cool kids" want to say they go to school at one of these winners.
So break it down. TOPS helps students IN Louisiana go to LOUISIANA schools...an LSU win just makes the purple & golden-showers more attractive for these great students. It makes it more difficult to recruit students to TECH. It impacts our ability to expand course offerings and fill our graduate school.
For Louisiana Tech as a taxpayer supported, in-state institution, we COMPETE with LSU. Therefore, I will be cheering for an embarrassing loss for them at the hands of Clemson (although it's highly unlikely).
LSU success doesn’t do anything for La Tech. There is plenty of talent available to La Tech if they would recruit/ connect with their own alumni.
The only way the state of LSU football will impact Tech is if it totally collapses. If LSU pulls a Nebraska and tanks and stays down for a long time then after a while Tech might start getting some higher ranked recruits...provided Tech is enjoying success at the same time.
Lots of dish rags on sale at Academy.
Oh, those are lsu t-shirts.
