Marco Rubio was just talking about the possibility of using forgivable loans to small businesses and the part that is used for payroll will be forgiven and the balance that the business uses for non payroll is still a loan.
I think that is a GREAT idea - if they could push is out. Wish Rubio was our president.

So what do you think about the stimulus and Rubio’s proposal?
Rubio was on my short list to support for POTUS in 2016. I voted for Ted Cruz in the Louisiana primary in 2016 because Rubio had already dropped out of the race by then. But, immediately after that Rubio sided too often with the RINOs, The Swamp, on some issues and I was turned off by him. Still, I am certainly willing to listen to what he has to say and offer.
And...while I understand, and support to a point, measures to assist during this "crisis" I am guarded in my enthusiastic support out of concern for growing the national debt, and creating some kind of permanent "guvmint program" that will exist beyond Covid-19. I don't want the economic cure to be worse than the disease.

Well, it would have been nice to save some dry powder for a rainy day rather than pouring fuel on a burning fire like Trump did with his deficit expanding tax cuts. But we can’t undo that mistake NOW.
Just one story:
I know a young woman who is a fulltime student at NSU, mostly paying her own way through school, with the help of a couple of small scholarships. But most of the tuition burden is on her. Her family is "working poor" who can help her only very little financially. She is carrying 21 hours in an attempt to complete her 4-year degree sooner, thus ultimately saving the cost of at least one semester. She was also working THREE part-time jobs to support herself. Well, as of this morning, the third of those three establishments announced closing until further notice.
She just texted me and asked if I had anything she can do to earn a little money. "I have rent coming up for April, plus other bills..."
I expect to have to work with some of my renters re: April rent. Most are college students, who depend on part-time employment to make ends meet. I am prepared to reduce rent for April, then for May, until such time as things return to normal. Unfortunately! some local businesses, including at least two restaurants, will not survive this mess. I see where one was just listed for sale, for $1.1 million, but that includes the physical structure, the building. It is one of the high-end restaurants that generates about $3 million in gross revenue annually.
And this is the reason I support some kind of financial assistance for small businesses and for workers. Just don't make it permanent.
Too much dust still in the air on the stimulus for me to form an opinion. I've never been a fan of ANY bail out type stimulus. This situation is unprecedented. My concern is that the socialist will use it as a vote buying vehicle rather than a stimulus.
Rubio's proposal makes good business sense if they lighten up the process to get a small business loan. Using sexual persuasion, race, or age as a qualifier is likely what will happen to some extent. Of course that should not matter, but it will.

Rubio was talking about the need to push it out faster than regular small business loans. Not sure how they manage that, but he seems to be focused in on the most important economic issue.
