36,000 Americans die annually from the flu. That is of course an average.

Annual automobile deaths are 60,000 plus.

Do we list "flu" as a cause of death in automobile deaths, if the deceased tests positive for H1N1? Do we list "flu" as the cause of death when someone has a heart attack while exercising, if the deceased tests positive for Type A? Of course, we don't do that...so why has the CDC directed that we do that for Covid-19? Serious replies only.
I'm an asshole! What's your excuse?

And the scary thing is that we have a vaccine for that. What if we didn’t? 120,000 dead, 150,000 dead? Just think how little impact C-19 will have when they nail down treatment and prevention.

A vaccine or a shot? People still get the flu after receiving the shot.

There are some video blogs popping up asking that question. I think it's politically expedient for the administration to bend over backwards to appease the lamestream media and the goofy 45% who are too stupid to switch the channel off of CNN et al. by being able to later say, Hey! we did everything we could to scare Americans to follow the social distancing edicts. We did it for their own good sake. We know if they insisted on accurate reporting right now Trump would be grilled! They already blame him for not doing something sooner that they blasted, and would have NEVER done if they were in charge! If there was accurate reporting, and of course, there would be some discrepancies, Trump would be accused of trying to "cover up" the seriousness of this outbreak.

    Hope I explained it clearly.

Most health care professionals I know use the terms interchangeably. None of the vaccines are 100% effective, but they still refer to them as vaccines. Yes people still get flu. People will still get C-19. It won’t kill near the number of has killed to this point if we have a viable treatment.

Your post is not serous. Or you didn’t actually read the CDC guidance.

    https://www.cdc.gov/nchs/data/nvss/vsrg/vsrg03-508.pdf

COVID-19 has to play a role in the death for it to be identified as the cause. If someone dies from hydroxychloroquine treatment for COVID, it is considered caused by COVID.

You got that right! When I was taking care of my 93 year old mother with cancer, I was the only person in the household that got a flu shot (I wanted to make sure I did not transmit any disease to her, and I had the most contact). Well, out of 5 people in the home, only one actually came down with the flu that year....ME.

It probably has more to do with money than anything. Hospitals, local governments, researchers, etc..,are all after the federal dollars that are flowing freely right now.Hospitals have to pay the bills too...they are a lot more likely to get reimbursed for a Covid case than a wreck or gunshot wound.

Third chart series down, you can see normalized deaths with all lines starting from the date of first death.
The main point of the chart above is deaths per capita.. US has 10x more people than some of the countries on that chart.. we are doing very well when comparing apples to apples.

Your chart exaggerates our performance, which has been slightly better than Italy and Spain on a per capita basis, because it doesn’t take into account the fact that our curve starts later because Italy/Spain got their community spread a couple weeks before us. When you start our charts from first death, we are still better, but the time delay doesn’t distort the difference in performance.

What are the standards for reporting in all of these countries? Is it accurate? Everyone is using the same standard?

Normally, the person has to be declared to be dead to be counted dead. In the US, we really should just go ahead and count them as brain dead if they voted for Trump.
